Heart-breaking, beautiful, amazing, poignant, and funny
It’s depressing and heartbreaking to read with little respite. There is a social message here, but it’s not just told with statistics of addictions, deaths, but through the moving story of a character as a little boy and then as a young man, with all of the horrors he faced in between, feeling as real as it gets .

Stunning !
The scale and complexity of emotions, along with the narrative beauty is simply mind blowing ! You are literally transported into the lives of the characters and are rooting for them all through ! An absolute must read !

The best story writer about serious issues
Kingsolver keeps getting better with age. I had just watched Dopesick on OTT and this book turned out to be a serendipitous choice. Even the Oxycontin jargon was familiar.

It is a beautiful book
When I thought why life is extra hard for me.. this kind of books helps me keep calm. It reminds me I am not weak, I have power to keep moving just like Demon Copperhead. Books are not only escapes for me they are inspiring me. It's a beautiful writing. Loved it. What a beautiful book.

Highly Recommend - AVOID WASTING YOUR TIME ON THIS BOOK
Its such a terrible book. A copy of David Copper field, it has no excuse to not be half the length that it is, as its written as a novel, whereas Charles Dickens David Copperfield was written primarily as episodes in newspapers , much like the modern soap opera. It was an unbearable drag to read. Overhyped would be a wrong word. Giving good reviews for this one amounts to a con job.

Couldn't finish
I have loved every book by this writer to the extent I never wanted them to end. But it was a struggle to finish Unsheltered and I evenually gave up on this one.. Either the writer has changed or I have.
