Lonely Planet Colombia: Perfect for exploring top sights and taking roads less travelled (Travel Guide)

Colombia trip went great because of this!!

The lonely planet never disappoints. It’s full of incredible information and very well sectioned.

I got the 2018 version for planning from the library and found it excellent. I then assumed I was getting much the same book with slightly updated prices and content but there is vastly less detail (and a lot more pictures) in this. Last Lonely Planet book I will ever die. Its a shame because they were great in their day, but I guess their traditional business model is no longer sustainable in the age of ubiquitous Internet access.

As other reviews have said this book uses a new layout which reduces the amount of useful content. There are few maps, nothing on public transport or wider regional transport, nightlife/restaurants/hospitals etc. I was so excited a new book was coming out prior to my trip I held off buying but wish I’d bought the old one. If the new format is a keeper I’ll not be buying any more.

Delivered in time, packaged with care, the book is pristine!

Great updated book for my son going to Columbia in December

I get a new lonely planet for each holiday and this was really disappointing. The book didn’t go into much detail and missed out the parts that make lonely planets so great like national park route guides, hotel and restaurant recommendations and transport options.

Not liking the new format at all. Please don't apply this to all future LP's

Lonely planet is my go to. I did the walking tour in Cartagena and even stayed at the recommended hotel. Perfect for solo female traveler.

As other reviewers mentioned, very light book, with very general information which can be readily found with little effort online. Poor quality of print, looks photocopied and photos are faded. Very expensive for such a useless book. Nothing like any other Lonely Planet I have ever owned.

Jahrelang nutzte ich auf diversen Reisen die Lonely Planet-Reiseführer, besonders die Transport-Abschnitte und die ungewöhnlicheren Ziele und Wege haben mich nie enttäuscht. Umso trauriger war ich, als ich diesen Kolumbien-Reiseführer in Händen hielt. Für mich ist der Reiseführer Kolumbien so nicht mehr zu gebrauchen. Kaum Informationen, dafür mehr Fotos. Deutlich dünner als die Ausgabe davor, die ich rege vor Ort genutzt habe. Eigentlich werden nur noch die Massentourismus-Ziele abgehandelt, dafür brauche ich aber keinen Reiseführer.Die nun erscheinenden neuen Ausgaben aller Reiseführer von Lonely Planet haben offenbar ein neues Konzept. Die Rezensionen sind eindeutig! Wenn es dabei bleibt, verabschiede ich mich in Zukunft von Lonely Planet. Aktuell besorge ich mir für die nächsten geplanten Urlaubsziele noch die letzten Ausgaben.

Gran cambio de formato y contenido con respecto a las guías Lonely Planet a peor:- Recorte de datos prácticos: no hay casi información sobre alojamientos, restaurantes, transporte público, planos/mapas- Recorte de datos culturales: desapareció la sección de historia y folclore, y la sección de gastronomía queda super reducida- A lo largo de la guía hay referencias a la web para ampliar información. Si decido comprarme una guía impresa es para no tener que depender de internet, poder subrayar y tener toda la información sin usar pantallas.La verdad es que me decepcionó mucho... no la devolví por falta de tiempo :( Espero que Lonely Planet recapacite y las guías vuelvan a su formato habitual, si no, habrán perdido a una fiel cliente (y seguro que a much@s más).

Dimensioni ridotte ma eliminate molte cose superflue come hotel e ristoranti (con TripAdvisor e booking sempre a disposizione ci sono valide alternative per dormire e mangiare senza seguire la guida), dedicato più spazio alle caratteristiche dei luoghi e alle cose da visitare
