Nearly identical to the discontinued Eton FR-250, but not as good
The GR-98 is nearly identical to the discontinued Eton FR-250. I have both and the old Eton FR-250 has a much better sounding speaker and it's 3.2 oz heavier. Also the old Eton FR-250 has a course and fine tuning knob where the Tecsun GR-98 just has a course tuning knob. The handle on the old Eton FR-250 also has a fake leather handle cover and the Tecsun GR-98 does not. The rechargeable battery packs are not interchangeable. The Tecsun GR-98 uses a micro usb charging cable that is provided and plugs into a USB A charging cube like most cell phones and the charging cord is provided. The Eton uses a AC barrel negative inner connector which is sold separately for about $11. The Eton FR-250 came with a carrying bag, manual and a bag of obsolete cell phone charger connectors. I purchased the Eton FR-250 off EBAY brand new in the original box for $19.99 plus $12.50 shipping.

Phenomenal audio quality, sensitivity and battery life!
Great audio quality on the FM and AM (MW) bands, great battery life and it feels solid. Unfortunately the SW band receiver is junk. Prowling the SW bands, all I can hear is bleedover/harmonics from MW stations 50+ miles away. Day and night. I don’t live near any MW towers and my other SW radios do not have this problem. This was an Amazon replacement that failed the same way as my first one. Sorry Tecsun, this radio needs to be re-engineered.

The price was good...
.. and I have no real complaints about this radio. It seems to work ok.I just expected a little higher quality product. It seems a little cheap after receiving it and testing it out. Maybe I should have spent more, and ordered the raddy 320 instead, but I was trying to save $$, and the reviews were decent on this one.
