Actually to answer your question. If you use to different soldiers together it will cause contamination in your solder joints and will also cause corrosion ending in a failed solder joint. I would stick with what the manufacturers guide line suggests. You can always switch out different tips depending on the job your working on. I have had good results with these tips. I keep them tined at all times and keep my iron set at 710 f. Good luck.
