Perfect for newbies and very rewarding
This was a great kit! This one is perfect for a beginner or a stress-free project for the experienced. The chip and ceramic capacitors come already installed which is very helpful as they are freaking tiny. The kit also comes with plenty of extra buttons in case you get a bad one or run into a mishap. All in all i love this thing.

It works as expected but not a beginner level kit
My 12yr old pianist son did most of the soldering but he knew how to solder from some past practice. I did the wires and touched up his junctions. To really solder the wires well, get some blue tack, a putty that you can use to hold things to the board when soldering. The piano sounds great, just like in the videos and we are having a blast with it. I think Tingbowei really took an old IC made to go inside children's music toys and made it into a learning and enjoyable experience. Good job Tom, we're happy to pay you to whitewash your fences;)

Simple kit, did not work
This was the fifth or sixth solder kit I ordered. My kids and I enjoy putting them together, and we've had 100% success, up until this one. I've put heat on much more critical components in other kits, and they've always started right up. I believe this one's a dud. There is not much to it to go wrong, so I'm not sure what I could have done better. Checked all possible points of failure and resoldered the speaker and battery wires to no success. It's the battery box, the buttons, and the speaker, that's it. Did I burn up the speaker? I doubt it. But now it is garbage. Too bad because this one would've been cool. It bugs me that I can't say why it failed.

Spotty success with this, one worked partially, another not at all. But does have good music!
I bought one of these to practice soldering. Not all the buttons worked. However, the preloaded melodies were really nice. Thought maybe my bad soldering was the problem. If I twisted the board a little everything worked. I tried desoldering some parts and got a little further. So this did show me my soldering was partially to blame. Since I liked the music I got another one.Was not successful with the second one out of the box. Made sure not to get cold solder joints, but alas, total silence. Gave up on it eventually. So I'm giving it a 4, because it is relatively less expensive than other similar items and has nice preloaded music. However, I suspect something about the board and/or chip is low quality, so I can't quite give it a 5.

Awesome kit with realistic samples
I have 17 vintage synths from the 70’s and 80’s that need some battery changes. Some need hardware firmware upgrades. Thus I needed something to rejuvenate my soldering skills with. This kit is easy to work with and makes some pretty cool sound when you start playing it. I would recommend this kit to beginners and old hands getting back into solder work for electronics.

Easy to make, Fun little piano
I bought this to practice soldering and had no problem. It was my first soldering project I ever did. It also works great and fun to play on. Great for begginers of soldering.

Great kit for older kids to practice soldering skills.
My teenager (who has limited experience soldering) used this as a way of practicing her soldering skills. The piano worked beautifully once she was done. She even gave it away as a gift.

Easy project for 11 year old beginner
Love the music. Doesn't come with instructions, but my kiddo put it together himself. He looked up which wires are negative and positive and did the rest. He has some soldering experience, but not much.
