High Quality Wood Treatment
This is not cheap, but what you're buying is a product which is easy to apply, is durable and stains to a natural wood colour. It raises the appearance of standard treated softwood to a new level, giving the appearance of an exotic hardwood, and leaves a protective layer on the surface. I only wish I had discovered it sooner!

Good quality stain
Not the cheapest but good quality product so worth the money. Goes on easily and seems to last well.

Almost French polished finish
Easy to use but very thin wood stain that dries overnight to a high gloss finish. It was bought to match up to Sikkens Cetol 31 but it needed multiple coats on new wood. After applying 12 over a week, the colour was still too light so the Sikkens was swapped for Dulux Trade Ultimate Woodstain which achieved the result needed in two coats.Annoyingly I see that Sikkens Cetol 31 is now available on Amazon.

The best for exposed locations
Sikkens woodstains are already legendary, but what's not always realised is just how long they last. Expect to get seven years or more from application. We constructed a large cabin from pine, and then set about painting it. There's a lot on the sikkens web site regarding which types to use in which order for the best results, and it does seem very important to coat the base timber with white spirit and allow it to dry prior to application. We did three coats on the cabin (no sanding required between coats) and then left it.That was seven years ago and this week we've applied two more coats to rejuvenate the building. In the course of that it was interesting to find that none of the original covering had flaked off, other than a very small patch on an exposed handrail at the front of the verandah. We live in a very exposed location in the mountains and, whereas we have to have the house repainted ever three years and the windows painted annually, the cabin only requires very occasional visits. It's expensive - indeed, but if you want something that works on wood, allowing for all the seasonal and temperature shrinking and expansion, then I doubt there's anything better.
