Q: can 1/16 to 3/32 thick copper be brazed with a basic propane torch with these rods?

No, not with propane. You need something such as the Bernzomatic OX2550KC. Reason being, propane alone wont get the copper hot enough to "run" (melt and flow to the joint area). What you will end up doing is just burning off all the flux coating that you will have applied to the rod. The flux coating is necessary to provide the proper environment while brazing for the copper/phos to form a usable bond with your base material.With the OX25500 you blend Oxygen into your MAPP gas to get it super hot. This gets the high temps. needed for brazing copper.

Q: Can i use this to braze together small brass or copper tubing for hobby projects? i plan to use my bernzomatic wk5500ox oxy-mapp torch.

I've only used this with making copper wire jewelry. However, I don't see why it wouldn't work on small copper tubing. Not so sure about the brass, though. I suggest you use in on a practice piece of brass first to see how it reacts to the brass. There might be brass brazing rods out there that you could use.

Q: Safe for potable water use?

I'm sorry, I just don't know. I bought it for crafting with copper wire but only used it once.

Q: Does it color match copper when cooled?

Mostly - it is slightly lighter shade than copper. It cannot be worked after cooling, however - the surface is copper shaded, but any sanding reveals a silver color.
