Cold Steel Spirit Survival Spear Head / 4.5" BLD / 420SS

I am a Cold Steel enthusiast. This is a genuine weapon with blades on both sides of the spearhead. However, when gripping it, it’s easy to cut your fingers. Therefore, at the end of the plastic handle, there should be a raised plastic section, about one or two turns high, to prevent slipping. I believe Cold Steel has not truly improved this weapon yet. I purchased two shafts online with a 1-inch diameter. The 60-inch wooden shaft could barely fit, but the 42-inch fiberglass shaft initially couldn’t be inserted. After sanding down the threaded part of the shaft, reducing the thread height, I was finally able to install it completely. This is a real weapon—you can even use it against a wolf or a mountain lion.

I like this little spear head/dagger. No…it is not a universal fit. Do not order a broom handle on Amazon…I can almost guarantee you it will not screw on all the way. Go to Home Depot or Lowe’s and look in the masonry section. There you can buy an extension pole with the threads you want.I deducted one star for the sheath…it is low quality. The blade will actually go right through it if you position it wrong while putting it away. It will also penetrate the sheath of you drop it on its point. I’m planning on making a better on out of leather.Overall, the weapon itself is great.

I like the quality of the blade and will be attaching it to a threaded broom handle. I through the sheath and plastic handle in the garbage trash because they have a real back chemical odor on them !

This piece is ok for the price. It came sharp, and has nice heft to it. Sheath is nothing special, but I would've preferred a leather one. What KILLS it is that the threads aren't quite... universal... to accommodate most broom/mop handles without altering them. This is unacceptable for me, as the Smith & Wesson model of this knife fit everything that I threw at it by comparison, therefore it is the better choice were I to use it as a spear.

The product is heavy duty as can be expected from most Cold Steel products, the packaging was good and there is a little inset Phillips head screw that needs to be removed in order for you to unscrew the blade from the handle.I bought it explicitly because I wanted to put it on some paint poles, you know the big yellow handled ones and other similar brands that extend anywhere from 12 to 20 ft, could make one heck of a pole arm. Unfortunately the threading doesn't exactly fit onto those joints and is more meant for small mop handle poles, like a javelin or smaller spear, very few larger handles I can think of that will fit.A decently made product, don't know how GSM will mess it up though.Four stars for quality, not five for the fact that it didn't work.

Very sturdy and well-made. Useful in the forest.

Does not screw into standard broom handle. Threads are different. Wouldn’t screw into the ones I have for painting either.
