Q: Why is this 12v? All my Makita batteries are 18v.

Makita DMP180ZX is out now. Not a lot of stores carry it yet.

I'm in the same boat and have been waiting for over a year. Makita have had an 18v vacuum pump for many years but still no 18v compressor? There are actually a few things I'd like they don't make, so will be buying then in the Ryobi range and an 18v battery adapter or two to use my Makita batteries in them.

Q: Is it possible to use an 18 volt converter adapter so I can use my existing Makita battery packs? I'm not interested in buying 12 volt packs.

Regular 18volt charger and battery will not work with this 12volt system. I am not sure if an 18 volt converter adapter will work.
