I can’t tell you the thickness of it, but it seemed to be plenty sturdy and if good quality. I’m sure it will fit any standard fitting.

Q: Is it okay to just use the teflon tape and NOT the washer/screen thing?

I removed the screen, but used the washer to provide a good seal. My shower head has a screen.
