Very necessary information…
I can’t believe the messages in this book aren’t being taken more seriously. Why can’t they just get a large group of subjects to stop eating sugar and refined food products for a year and test them both before and after?? Whether they are “healthy” or under a doctors care when they start, major differences should show up.5 stars!! Stop eating fructose whenever possible!!

Excellent Summary of Dr. Lustig's Hypothesis
I like that thr author summarized Dr. Lustig's research in writing, as his lecture is very intense. This book slows the presentation so it can be more easily absorbed. Very accurate and clear.

Short, simple and right to the point
THE REAL TRUTH ABOUT SUGAR is written in third person--by Samantha Quinn--about the wildly popular and true video entitled "Sugar: The Bitter Truth," by Dr. Robert Lustig. The book is short--less than a hundred pages--easy to read, and focuses on just a few points and related articles. The best part of the book is the message: "stop eating sugar because it is a chronic poison." There is no sharper, more meaningful truth for today's world. Since I've eliminated sugar from my diet I'm much happier, healthier and don't think about food hardly ever. Without sugar dominating our lives, we can spend our time reading good books and touting the benefits of a life independent of sugar. Recommended... - lc

At Last, Clarity about Sugar Metablolism, Obesity, and Chronic Metabolic Syndrome
Everyone should listen to Michael Lustig's, MD's YouTube video "Sugar: The Bitter Truth." It clarifies so much about the biochemistry of sugar (particularly fructose) metabolism. This book covers the same topic. Lustig is a pediatric endocrinologist, who has been working with the issues of obesity and metabolic syndrome in children (and adults) for many years.I also recommend his book "Fat Chance," for a more complete treatment of the subject of the global pandemic of obesity. His work has changed completely the way I eat, and the results are astonishing. By the way, he has no diet or program he is pushing. Besides, our bodies and metabolism vary, and, as he points out, there is no "one-size-fits-all" program. What he does do is make a very strong case for the toxicity of fructose, a substance that, unlike glucose, cannot be effectively metabolized without causing a lot of damage in our liver and other organs. It is a sugar, but it is metabolized like fat. The problem is that fructose, which does not occur alone in nature, makes up half of the sucrose (table sugar) molecule. The other half of that molecule is glucose, which is metabolized well and safely and is used by all living things. Sucrose is the sugar found in fruit, sugar cane, beets, honey - all naturally occurring sweet foods, and we overeat it on a massive scale. Now of course, we have managed to engineer a substitute which is no safer - high fructose corn syrup, a substance which is also roughly half glucose and half fructose, and we put it in most processed foods, to make them palatable after we have removed the fat and fiber. The bottom line - I strongly recommend viewing Michael Lustig's video and reading these books.

Sweet reading
I read but I guess it was what I knew anyway. I have since tried to manage without any sugar, so it has done some good

Interesting read
'The book covers the biochemistry of sugar metabolism which might be hard for those to follow or understand if they do not have that training or background. However, one can find a person who can verify what is written and decide if the conclusions are valid. I have eliminated almost all non-food source sugars in my diet and am glad that I did.

Sugar is truly the dietary enemy
The review is very well written. The information is detailed enough for people with a health/ nutrition background and has clear explanation for those who don't.I have read many books and articles which cover many aspects of diet and now live by the "no sugar" guidelines. It is my belief that by removing sugar from the diet, people will make the single most dramatic change to their lives.Weight loss,if that is the only goal, will be considerable. I lost 25 kgs/55lbs in one year, by only adhering to the " no sugar" principle. There are many other benefits which weren't necessarily expected but I am delighted by my new physical and mental condition. If a anybody wishes to lose weight, it is my opinion that sugar must eliminated from the diet as much as possible. This is not difficult to do. Certainly awareness and thought are required but I say again, it is not hard to do. The results WILL follow."The real Truth About Sugar" is a very enlightening read and should be considered by anyone looking for a healthier life.
