Tamiya - 1:16 World War II German Elite Infantry

Quality Tamiya components, good level of detail and some nice accessories make this kit a pleasure to assemble and paint.

Tamiya are good models

This has been a great kit to build, as always and as expected the quality of the kit is second to none and has been a wonderful challenge to build and paint.

I've been building Tamiya kits for 40 years and they are World leaders in quality but I've given this kit a 4 star rating as I was surprised at how much clean up and gap filling was required.This is the 1st Tamiya 1/16 figure I've done so perhaps this is normal but it's certainly not the case in the majority of their kits.A figure in this scale will look terrible painted with obvious seam lines all over it and sadly every line was very visible.Sprue attachment points were often in a crease in the clothing so require very careful trimming and sanding not to loose important details.I do not mind this fettling but many modellers like to assemble and paint with the minimum of fuss so this kit would frustrate those wanting a quick model.However when all gaps have been filled and sanded and it's painted it does look very good, I need a few varieties for a 1/16 tank diorama and Tamiya supply a good range.For a good cheat check out Archer fine transfers, eyeball decals. It makes one of the more difficult parts of figure painting much easier.I do recommend this kit but do not expect Tamiyas usually fast build time.

This has been around a good few years now but its still a great 1/16 figure with good detail and a purposeful pose. This is actually the first time I've done a 1/16 figure and I'm pleased with he results. Also bought a couple of packs of scale bricks to make the diorama and the domed glass dimply case also came from Amazon for a very reasonable price. Very happy with the finished article overall.
