This an excellent wall clock. A Howard Miller clock is a quality clock. I have it in the bathroom and it looks great. Keeps time accurately. Was delivered quickly. I would recommend purchasing this clock. You can't go wrong.

Sturdy, well made by reputable company. Color slightly darker than our brushed nickel fixtures but acceptable. It does have audible ticking-would not use this in a bedroom. A silent, sweep second hand would have been nicer. I was surprised there was no mounting screw with the purchase.

I rcvd my new Howard Miller - Aries 8.5" wall clock today. I shopped online for a couple weeks before deciding on this one. This seems to be part of a series of Howard Miller clocks with Zodiac names; they are all the same size and style, but with different colored cases and dials: Aries (brushed-nickel case); Aquarius (brushed-brass case); Virgo (oil-rubbed bronze case); Pisces (brushed nickel case with spun silver-tone dial). I picked the Aries because I thought the `brushed nickel case with white dial' would look best on my wall. It was a bit difficult to find an 8.5" dia clock, as most wall clocks are larger; but an enormous 12-13" dia wall clock would have looked ridiculous on the wall of my small office room. *I don't find the `ticking' to be much louder than any of the other battery operated clocks I have in my house; of course it would be better to have a non-ticking (silent sweep) clock, but I couldn't find any available in the 8.5" dia size. *I didn't understand the description of the `mounting bracket' on the back. It turns out it is a plate on the back of the clock that twist-locks to the clock, and covers the battery compartment, and can be mounted to a wall with 3 screws. The plate is part of the clock, but you don't actually `have' to mount it to the wall; I think it is for use in an RV or boat, so it doesn't fall off the wall. The plate has a conventional hole for simply hanging as is. *For the most part I like the clock a lot, but the mounting plate on the back makes the case/frame stand 1" away from the wall. I think the clock would look better without the plate, so it would sit flush with the wall. However, considering what I've found to be available on the internet, this seems to be about the best one can do in this size clock. There are other similar sized clocks, but I think most would look junkier than the Howard Miller. I have other Howard Miller clocks that I've had for many years that I've been happy with. The price seems reasonable for a quality product. *When I ordered this it said Amazon was out of stock, but could be sent from I-Site, taking an extra 4-5 days. I ordered this at 6pm Mon, and rcvd Fri afternoon, from UPS. The receipt inside seems to be directly from Howard Miller. *ONE YEAR LATER: the clock has kept perfect time since I got it.

I ordered this clock for my Living Room wall and Howard Miller is the best. I opened the box and it was beautiful and made very well. But after a day, we noticed that it was difficult to see from a distance. Couldn't always tell the difference from the hours to the minutes. I guess I should have ordered a larger clock. So Amazon was nice enough to allow me to return it, and I placed a larger clock in my cart. So as soon as they receive this clock and issue me a credit, I will proceed with a new order. But for the day I had it on the wall, it was accurate and is a very nice time piece. Just wish it were larger.

We bought this clock for our master bathroom approximately 7 years ago, it suddenly stopped working. I came back to Amazon to shop for a new one, didn't see any others I liked better than our original. It's quiet enough that it doesn't disturb my husband's sleep, and it coordinates well with our brushed nickel bathroom hardware. With all those positives, we bought the same one again.

The clock has a handsome, quality appearance. It is solid, actual metal rather than plastic made to look like metal.We have it in our master bath, and it is quiet enough that we can now leave the door to the master bath open at night. My wife, who is sensitive to ticking noises at night, can't hear it at all from the bedroom. In fact, you can't hear it from 10 feet away in the same room. With our old clock, we had to keep that door closed.It is moderately accurate. Ours gains about 25 seconds a month. Decent, but I'd like better, so I downgraded it a little for that.Yes, as other reviewers have said, it can be hard, in low light, without your glasses on, to see the hands, or if your lights are positioned so as to directly reflect from the face. The hands are a little slim. But even with my glasses off, in the shower, I can see it just fine.

The first clock I received had a flaw in the paint job and the metal showed through. I was so disappointed because other than that I really liked the clock. I returned the first one and the following day received a replacement that was perfect. It nicely fit the space above our kitchen door and its rich oil-rubbed bronze color goes perfectly with our kitchen decor. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Had to replace RV clock tried other clocks before purchasing this one.This clock has kept accurate time and stays in place.
