Love this stuff!
Perfect light pipes. Super easy to work with. Accurate clean cuts using a sharp die cutter. These work great for lightpiping internal LED to front panel. I'm building 3D printed structures to guide/mount them and it's super easy to print the hole, which snakes through the fixture, slide this light pipe into it and voila. In my attached picture, you can see 24 of the 1TB SSD enclosures which use the lightpipe to bring the activity LED to the face of the drive enclosure.

Turns hassles into function.
Is this the optic fiber? Not sure. If so, it's very handy when building projects with on-board indicator lights. it allows you to send the light to where it's visible when the location of the circuit board is awkward. Can be heated and shaped and glued.

Works great for indication hard to see board LED's.
Works great, bend radius is about 1" or so. Needs a good clean flat cut on both ends to best reflect the light properly.

No Moving Parts. Know for Sure if the Light is ON.
I am willing to bet that I am using this fiber optic cable in a way that few are doing. I have rural property with a well. My pump house has pipes that I need to keep from freezing. Like most people I insulate and use a 100W bulb to supply a little heat. But, it is a pain to keep checking to see if the bulb has burned out. But the consequences of a burned out bulb and broken pipes are great. So, I ran a bundle of fiber optic strands from the light source to a small hole at the top of the exterior wall. I can see the glow as I drive by in the morning and at night. No more trudging in the dark to check on the bulb, I can see it from my car!

Just what I was looking for
This works great for 1:87 scale models. If you scrape the side with a blade or 1000 git sand paper, light comes through the sides nicely for neat effects. I'd actually buy some thinner diameters as well next time.

Low-loss optical fiber
I used this fiber to copy my stove burner-ON indicator light to a point by my front door thirty feet away, so that on exiting the house I am alerted if I’ve left a burner on. (Two houses nearby burned down due to this particular oversight.) It works great, and the fiber itself is barely noticeable where it runs along the walls. The fiber diameter is .061 inch.
