Great sprinkler!
I have to say how much I LOVE this sprinkler! I have an irregularly-shaped front yard that is difficult to cover fully, and all of the sprinklers I've bought in stores were inefficient. I had to move them 3 times in order to get the whole lawn watered - and even at that I ended up watering too much of the driveway and sidewalk. I have other Gardena products and have been impressed with their quality so I decided to try this. Let me tell you, I can set this sprinkler in the middle of my lawn and it covers the whole lawn with almost no sprinkling the sidewalk or driveway. Very solid, doesn't tip, either. Because of the way the water moves (lovely to watch, too) everything gets watered evenly - something none of my previous sprinklers did. My husband and I had been talking about installing an in-ground watering system, but now that I have this sprinkler that works so well I've told him I don't think we need to do that. So yes, it's more expensive than standard sprinklers, but WAY less than a watering system!

Great at low water pressure
I went through just about every lawn sprinkler you could imagine trying to water my lawn in a consistent manner with the low water pressure of an older home, built in 1919. I tried oscillating sprinklers but without the water pressure they would only travel in one direction in late spring, summer, and early fall. I tried stationary sprinklers that I would have to move approximately every 15 minutes; what a pain in the neck. When no one else was watering I had enough pressure for the other sprinklers to work. This Gardena 1948 worked wonderfully through the summer and fall of 2013. I know that I will need to replace most of the horizontal iron pipes in the home due to sediment build up, but this Gardena 1948 Circular sprinkler is the only one sprinkler I ran across in the 5 years of owning my current home that actually worked to handle the low water pressure and given me less reason to consider replacing those iron pipes; something I am not looking forward to doing.

Fantastic Sprinkler
My wife is a full-time home gardener with a half-acre of flower gardens, vegetable gardens, and patio plants. She has tried virtually every brand of watering tool on the market and complains about every one of them. I have boxes full of rejected and defective devices that clog, leak, or simply refuse to work. I'm talking hoses, wands, hand sprayers, lawn sprinklers, quick-connects (brass and plastic), etc. She hates them all. Then I found the German Gardena brand and, on a whim, ordered a sampling of everything they make (assuming I would be returning some, if not all, to Amazon. To my surprise, my wife loves them with a passion. The are so simply designed and constructed, yet work so effortlessly. The quick-connects are a dream (I haven't been called upon to fix one yet). The hoses have built-in connects that are easily replaced. The sprayers always work, never clog and never leak.In summary, the best ever. Leave it to the Germans.

These sprinklers work exactly like I had hoped they would
These sprinklers work exactly like I had hoped they would. I am currently seeding a large amount of grass in our lawn. We live on a couple of acres so it is challenging to water the seeded grass multiple times per day. So, I bought two of these sprinklers. They are excellent for watering areas (like seeded gras) sensitive to high pressure water flow. The water sprays out evenly and in a nice fine mist. I also use it for watering our small garden in the backyard, and the trees when necessary. The only complaint (not fault of company) is that they don't perform well in windy conditions. So if you live in a high-wind ares this probably isn't the best choice.

Great pattern sprinkler, mediocre quality
I love the pattern sprinkler. The patterns work with our water pressure, and you can sprinkle "on target". However, the quality is not up to the Gardena standards. The connector piece (where it connects to the hose) broke on two of them, the spike on one. Granted we have hard California clay soil, but that should not brake the thing. My parents used to have only Gardena in Europe, but the quality back then was apparently way better. Not sure if I want a replacement piece for this one, especially because I expect better quality for the price.

Works in small or large areas
I use this sprinkler in smaller square areas of my yard where the larger sprinkler would be excessive. It helps save water because you aren't inadvertently sprinkling the sidewalk or the side of your home.

Large spray field
This sprinkler has a larger field of water stream than I thought it would. I have ordered another now that I know what it can do.
