I loved the little wooden fruit crate ideal for tidy up time and looks like an old fashioned veg crate.Great for learning colours, names of fruits and veg, hand strength chopping the items with the little knife and board and also fractions, halves and thirds (that's the Primary Maths Specialist hat going on).Happy to recommend, they will love playing with this. Pretend Play Food Toys wooden play foodCurrent price - £21.99This set of chunky wooden play food arrives in a printed cardboard box which opens to reveal a sturdy, wooden storage box with a range of wooden food, a wooden knife, and a wooden chopping board inside, all wrapped in white tissue paper.Once unwrapped, the food can be placed on the chopping board and 'chopped' with the knife which separates the velcro holding the pieces together.The food is well painted, both on the outside, and inside where seed and segment patterns are visible. Some of the food items have felt leaves added.Each piece of food is made from two halves, excepting the carrot which has sections. Each section is joined with hook and loop fastener. There is a small amount of glue visible on one or two items around the hook and loop fastener.The pieces join nicely together, and 'chop' well, allowing a range of play.Whilst the listing title mentions 'for toddler' and '3 4 5 6 7 years old', my 9 year old was the enthusiastic recipient of this set and immediately began making 'soup' for me.The size of the pieces fits in nicely with other, similar play food we have, and although the scale is not consistent (the pumpkin is a similar size to the strawberry), it's all a nice size for small hands to handle.Well worth the current price for such high quality items, and the wooden storage crate is ideal for storing the food, or for playing shop.

This is a really well made toy for little helpers. The box and all its contents are tasteful, well finished and are smooth wood with no sharp edges. The box has carry handles too. The set includes a chopping board with a blunt knife to separate the velcro-ed fruit and veg. Each object is wrapped in tissue paper to prevent damage in transit.It has a nice vibe to it. It would sit well alongside any toy box, play kitchen or simply by itself on a table. It can all be tidied away easily as it has its own storage box.With its overall quality and ‘true to life’ bright colours I could see this in an arty artisan toy shop and will fit well in a nursery or reception class. A real inspiration to encourage meaningful imaginative play.
