Crystal!!!
Too cute… grass started to grow but died quickly so adding more. But again super cute my son loves it. Only thing crystal hard to come out the cup without braking, so I just cut the cup all the way and left it sitting at bottom and cut around the bottom edge if that makes sense.

Great science kit, watch rocks and ryegrass grow in a week!
We loved this kit for our homeschool! There was plenty of dirt and seed (we probably should have been more liberal with pouring the seed, we had extra). We've planted lots of things in our garden, so rye grass wasn't super thrilling, but the kids still had fun pouring in the dirt scattering seeds and watching it grow FAST. The decorative white rocks are fun too. This was the first time we've grown crystals from a kit, though we've gone rockhounding and to gem shows plenty. The instructions were clear, though its hard to tell if you've stirred long enough with the dye being so dark. We watched the crystals grow over the course of the week, I found that shining a light through the liquid made it easier to see through the dark liquid. Most of the crystals didn't feel like growing on the shape that was put in the cup, but we still got some great crystals. The kids didn't care for the purple color so they rinsed the crystal out after and made it lighter. There wasn't much included educational material, but it didn't take much effort to find some great videos about how crystals grow. We happen to be incubating eggs at the moment too, so we got to compare the differences of how plants, minerals and animals grow.

Fun
My daughter and niece had a blast with this kit. Directions were straightforward. Over the course of a week our crystals grew, however they grew and broke off in pieces. Not sure if we did something wrong or just bad luck. My kids still enjoyed it.

Anyone who actually uses this kit will realize that it is poor in nearly every way!
**UPDATE: The crystals do not form correctly and they break into many pieces when you pull them out. This kit is truly awful.**I got this just to try it out and leave some feedback! The flaws are tremendous. The instructions are awful. They are written ok, but you wonder if you did anything right. For example, do you use all of the seeds? Do they sit on the surface, or if not, how far down should they be pressed? Why are some things measured in cups and others in ml?There are a lot of dumb things in the instructions, such as opening the plastic bag of dirt and adding 1/2 cup of water. We are supposed to thoroughly mix the water into the dirt while it’s in the bag. Mind you, there is absolutely no extra space within the bag for this mixing to happen. Next, the dirt goes into the terrarium, but it’s still totally dry because they give you 3x more than you need. Why all the extra dirt… did you do something wrong? Did they do that with the seeds too? Who knows! The crystal making is no better and follows along the same lines. You cannot even see the crystals growing in the dark colored medium until day 4 of waiting (pic is of day 4). Even then, it’s only the purple one, and you have to hold it is just the right light. How is that fun for a kid? I can assure you it isn’t fun for an adult! Then you have to sit these flimsy plastic cups, of the most horrible staining material you ever had in your home, somewhere that your husband won’t tip them over for a week. This kit is terrible. I could write several more paragraphs about the poor quality and how this offers no educational value whatsoever, and on and on, but this product isn’t worth any more of my efforts.Do NOT recommend!

So fun
We had so much fun building this terrarium. The grass grew like crazy and it’s still growing. The crystals didn’t work as well as we thought they would but we did get a couple chunks out of them. Very fun for the family. Just need some improvement on the crystals.

Great for kids
This is a great kit for kids. The crystals are very fragile and will easily break. The seeds were fun to plant and watch grow. Is it fun for adults, sure but I always feel like the expectations of an adult is so much higher than for kids. Kids will see the crystals and plants growing and be so excited that they did it. Great for the science kid or even adult who knows the expectations of this kit,

Perfect Gift for 10 years old boy
I selected a DIY terrarium as a special gift for a 10-year-old boy, and witnessing his excitement as he opened the present was truly heartwarming. His face lit up with sheer delight when he uncovered a science kit inside. It was evident that the prospect of growing crystals and plants held a world of fascination for him. This thoughtful gift not only brought immediate joy but also promises to be an enriching experience for his development. The DIY terrarium provides an excellent opportunity for him to explore the wonders of science and nature firsthand. As he nurtures the crystals and watches the plants grow, he'll gain valuable insights into the principles of biology and geology. Moreover, this hands-on activity will foster his curiosity, patience, and problem-solving skills, which are crucial for his growth and development.✅I hope you’ve found the information and my review helpful.✅

Crystals and Plants
Over the years we've planted seeds in terrariums, and we've made crystals on little cardboard trees. This combines both into one kit. The crystals didn't come out looking just like the ones on the box, but we didn't really expect them to. It was still a fun activity for the kids, and they like to check on it each day.
