Deco Cakes!: Swiss Rolls for Every Occasion Paperback – March 18, 2014

I am a big fan of Junko and am thrilled that she decided to get one of her books translated. I currently own the one with her Rilakkuma cake on the cover, but I had to use my phone to translate the ingredients and directions. So it's nice to have a full English book from her. The instructions are straight forward and easy to follow. You don't need to be a master baker to make any of these. The cakes are simple to make, yet the wow factor is through the roof! Beautiful and delicious! Just make sure you have a scale as I believe this is a preferred way of measuring ingredients.The back of the book contains many wonderful designs that you put underneath your parchment paper to trace. But don't feel that you are restricted to just these designs! Once you get the hang of splitting the batter into colors, you can just print out any design you want to follow. If you want to have text on your cake, make sure you mirror the image otherwise your text will be backwards. I learned the hard way (-___-)".

Such a cute book with great illustrations! Easy to understand and cakes turned out perfectly!! Every time I make a cake it is eaten up within a day...I need another pan so I can make 2 at once! This will be a book that will be used many times!

Great book, vivid color and detail, helpful recipes that are easy to follow and make the reader feel confident in their ability to try it.

pretty cool book, clear explanations ... I can't believe bake roll cake can be so fun. If you don't have this book yet, make sure you put an order tomorrow.. you won't regret .. trust me

Only got to use it once so far but it has been really great! The instructions were easy to follow and plenty of tips and decorating ideas are provided through out. I know the problems we had were from self rising flour that my grandmother insisted upon using instead of all purpose. I look forward to making more decorolls this summer!

I saw this book in Epcot Disney World Orlando. I wanted it so bad... But the price was a bit much. I was so excited to find it cheaper on Amazon. Excited to do some of these ASAP!

I really enjoy this cookbook. Super cute and easy to follow instructions. Tells you how to make the cake.

This is a beautiful book and I was so excited to try and make a cake from here. However, the positive remarks end there.Unless you're an avid baker with a natural sense to manipulate recipes, I don't recommend this for those who don't bake often. All the cakes require making meringue, which can be difficult for beginners if there are no tips. For example, I had to figure out on my own that most meringues require sugar, that the eggs must be at room temperature, and that you must beat the mixture at a high speed with the hand mixer for quite some time. NONE of this was mentioned in the recipe book and I struggled for quite a bit to try and figure out why the meringue did not look like her pictures. Such tips may be obvious for those who have baked for a long time, but I became frustrated when I thought I was following the recipe to the letter. I shouldn't need to use Google to figure out why certain parts of the recipe won't look like her pictures.After that, I stopped preparing the cake because I was afraid of what other errors may lay ahead.
