Docked one star because the bundle is a waste of money. Skip the bundle. The minelab 15 pinpointer is designed for coins and large objects. This detector is designed for finding tiny gold. The detector wouldn't even pickup a 1/2gram chunk of gold unless touching the probe. I had a chance to test the minelab 40 pinpointer and it's also less than impressive, although it is usable for nugget hunting.I suggest buying the Gold Monster by itself with just the circle coil, get a Garrett AT pinpointer ($129 orange model). And for real small gold that the Gold Monster finds, you really should be pinpointing with something like a Falcon MD20. One nice thing about the Garrett pointer is its probe is waterproof and has sensitivity adjustment. And definitely invest in a carbon fiber collapsible shaft and a stand (3d print files free on thingiverse)With that said, my second dig with the Gold Monster revealed a 21 gram 18k+ gold nugget. The hole I dug it out of yielded another 7 grams of smaller nuggets, pickers, and flakes. So it paid itself off on day one. Any detector would have found that nugget, even a kid's toy. But the Gold Monster 1000 has found bedrock crack flakes under 0.01grams.Lastly, the oval coil really serves no purpose. In every test I've performed with it as well as every test I've seen others perform comparing it to the 5" circle coil to the oval coil show no increase in depth, sensitivity, reduction in interference with the larger coil, and the loss of sensitivity negates the larger search area. If you want to run a coil like that get a different machine. You need one coil for the Gold Monster 1000 and it's the small circle. I tested thoroughly with gold ranging from a few flakes on the surface to a couple grams buried several inches down. Circle coil wins. Every time. Every soil condition.

There's a reason these are so highly respected among detectorists. Easy to put together and works well. Lots of extras in this kit. If you're on the fence, just do it. You'll be glad you did.
