Hard to read numbers and not easy tonise
A time should be easy to use - you have trouble turning the minutes on and off. Plus this timer even turned itself on! Terrible timer.

Good little kitchen timer
This is a review of "KitchenAid 99M Digital Single Event Magnetic Visual Timer" - a simple countdown/count-up digital kitchen timer. This is a simple device that does exactly what it's supposed to. It's magnetic - with two strong magnets on the back - which allows it to be stuck onto any reasonably flat metal surface. In the pictures, the timer's stuck on the microwave, but the fridge works as well. Didn't have any problems with the timer sliding out of place since the magnets are more than strong enough to hold up the timer. The display has large numbers and is easy to read in reasonable kitchen lighting with the backlight off, but pressing the backlight button will turn on a bright backlight for half a minute. If you tap the Play/Pause button on the timer when the display reads "00 00", then the timer counts up. You can set a countdown timer by hitting the minute and second button until you get the desired time, then hitting Play/Pause to start the countdown. The alarm sounds exactly like a travel digital clock's alarm - plenty loud enough if you're in the general area of the timer, but you probably won't hear it if you're, say, on a different floor of the house separated from the timer by several walls and floor. The timer displays only minutes (up to 99) and seconds - no hours - so is only good for timing up to an hour and 39 minutes.

Perfect little timer!
In our kitchen, we generally use the oven timer for most things. However, when doing anything mildly exciting, it helps having an extra timer (or one you can carry around the house). Normally we might use our phones or a smart speaker, but phones tend to not be sanitary and also serve as a distraction (and the timer is rarely front and center at a glance). This little guy is great! Very easy to read in minutes and seconds, with a clear and loud little speaker to beep in there, and a nice backlight (which you can keep on with the backlight button). Magnets on the back of the unit allow you to toss it up on the fridge or anywhere it'll stick in your home (and stands up on it's own without issue). I also appreciate that it included the two AAA batteries needed to run it.The timer stays on (in the unlit state) and lights up when you click any of the buttons, and the backlight turns off after 30 seconds (same timeout after you press the backlight button). The minute and second both blink as the time ticks down to let you know it's not paused. If you need to add some extra time, you do need to pause the timer, tap seconds/minutes, and press the play/pause button again to resume. If you press the start button when the timer is set to zero, it starts tracking time passed instead of counting down; a nifty little feature. Also, when setting the time, you can hold the minute (or second) button down to add the desired time. You can easily press minute or second to add one at a time, but if adding 90 minutes, it'll save a lot of time (and beeps!).The only downside is if you need a timer for more than an hour and a half, you'll most likely have to stick with your oven's timer. =) But for most baking, this little timer is great!
