Good replacement
Had a little spill on my Target Special (Schwinn Tourist) and the factory derailleur snapped just under the mounting bolt. Long walk back to the car. Realizing now that I should have spent more money on a better bike, I figured this replacement derailleur would hold me over. If you do your research and read about the limit screws and how to initially mount the derailleur, as well as adjusting it, it really isn't that hard to get this thing tuned. In fact, it only took me about 30 minutes. The hard part was getting the bike off the ground to test the gears. I looked on the Shimano web site. They only advertise their high end stuff, so you need to enter the model number you're curious about and they have documents on-line pertaining to mounting/adjusting as well as an exploded view that helped me to understand how it specifically worked. Of course, most of the same documentation was included in the box.Just remember, you'll need to keep the original derailleur hanger. Just detach with the larger hex bolt that mounts it.I'm very happy with it knowing the potential limitations of not spending upwards of 100 dollars for a better one. I'm really surprised about this bike, though. Growing up, we thrashed our Schwinn bikes and they held up like tanks. Guess you get what you pay for nowadays.

Works perfectly
I reluctantly had to replace a lovely older XT derailleur on my classic road bike that would no longer index properly. With a few adjustments this thing started shifting reliably, every time. It is both quiet and smooth. I chose silver for a more classic look, but black would probably be best in most situations. The good reviews are legit.

Can handle 1500 watts!
I was looking for a new derailleur since my last derailleur was mangled after my BBSHD middrive motor ripped it right off its hangar. This derailleur has held up great despite the less than optimal chain angle to the front sprocket!
