Shimano 23 Vanquish

kind of pricey but I think it's worth it. smooth drag and really looks good and have a good balance on my Yamaga Blank rod.

I use this on ultralight gear to fish rivers and streams. It balances really well with my 6’7” gloomis gcx ultralight. I spooled 4lb tatsu and casting is improved, line twist is minimal (I might get 1 wind knot a day as opposed to 3+ using braid) and retrieve and drag are buttery smooth. I’d even say it’s hard to say if my Daiwa Exist or Stella FK are smoother than this. The only reel that feels smoother to me is my Daiwa Steez CT SV casting reel. I’ve caught hundreds of stocker trout and a handful of 20”+ bows and browns that have peeled drag up and down the river and this reel has handled them with ease. I will probably purchase more in multiple sizes. I’ve been using the 1000 size but would love to grab a 2000/2500/3000 asap.

I bought a C2000S Vanquish to replace my aging Stella 1000FB. I was very impressed with how smooth the real was and its light weight. Ive ended up buying another of these reels. I love my Stella, but for the price I think the Vanquish performs very well!!! As far as longevity, I will just have to wait that one out!!! I bought my Stella in 2006 and I have loved it, it has been used a lot, along with a few Sustains, they all have been flawless. If this Vanquish lasts as long as the others its definitely the best reel you may be able to find.

I love the reel. It is everything advertised and more.Only negative was the way Fedex handled the delivery. They specified that a sugnature was required so I stayed at home to receive it. At 4pm I got an email saying that they tried to deliver but no one was home. It akso said that they left a door tag. No one came ti my address and no door tag was left. I ended up have to drive 30 miles to pick it up.

I paired this reel with a St. Croix Avid 6’6” med/fast with 8 pound suffix elite, to catch hybrid bass. I own: Vanford 2500, Stradic Ci4, Complex XR F6 2500, and this reel by far feels the most refined when reeling.

This thing is amazing. Light and so smooth. I love the stella features in the vanquish and if you're into finesse fishing and value how light a reel is, then I'd say this is a better reel than 22 stella. I bought the c2000s and the 1000ssspg when it went on sale.
