The Ultimate Home Automation Hub for Power Users and Beginners Alike
If youâre serious about home automation and want a system that can handle anything you throw at it, this hub is an absolute must-have. Itâs incredibly powerful and versatile, but let me start with a fair warning: to truly unlock its full potential, youâll need to be somewhat technical. That said, the fantastic online community is a game-changer. Theyâve created guides, shared ideas, and answered every question Iâve had, making it possible for anyone with some patience and curiosity to succeed. Now, onto what this device can do. The short answer? If you can dream it, it can do it. Hereâs a rundown of some of the endless possibilities:1. Integrate Everything: It works seamlessly with a huge range of devicesâZigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, and even older protocols like IR with the right integrations. Lights, thermostats, locks, sensors, camerasâyou name it, this hub ties them all together into one cohesive ecosystem.2. Advanced Automation: From basic scheduling to highly complex âif-this-then-thatâ scenarios, the automation options are endless. For example, Iâve set it up so that my outdoor lights turn on at sunset, my thermostat adjusts automatically based on motion detection, and even my coffee maker starts brewing as soon as I disarm the alarm in the morning.3. Local Control: Unlike many other systems, this hub focuses on local processing, which means faster response times and greater reliability. Plus, you donât have to rely on cloud services, giving you added security and control over your devices.4. Custom Dashboards: The ability to create personalized dashboards is amazing. Iâve set up a central touchscreen in my kitchen where I can control everything in my house at a glance, from lights to cameras to sensors. Itâs super convenient and looks pretty cool too!5. Energy Savings: With smart automation, Iâve been able to optimize energy usage. For instance, lights and fans turn off automatically when no one is in a room, and the thermostat adjusts when doors or windows are open.6. Enhanced Security: Iâve integrated it with door locks, motion sensors, and cameras to create a comprehensive security system. I get instant notifications if anything unusual happens, and I can automate actions like turning on lights and sounding alarms if a door is opened unexpectedly at night.7. Endless Customization: This is where the real power lies. You can write custom rules, create virtual devices, and even use third-party apps and integrations to expand its capabilities. Whether itâs voice control with Alexa or Google Assistant, integrating with other platforms like HomeKit, or creating your own scripts, the skyâs the limit. While the setup can be a bit overwhelming at first, the online community and support resources make it manageable. If youâre willing to put in the effort, this hub will reward you with a home automation experience thatâs second to none.Bottom line: Whether youâre a power user who loves tinkering or a beginner looking for a robust system that can grow with your needs, this device is an incredible investment. Itâs fast, reliable, and capable of things I didnât even think were possible before. If youâre ready to take full control of your smart home, this is the hub to get!

So easy to use.
I like the fact that I got it working right away. My home came with a ring system that I never activated. I did not want the ring system to data mine my home. This hubitat was able to program most of my ring items I had in the home without selling out my personal information. I was able to use devices from many different brands. It was so easy to set up. Their forum is really good. I was never able to post any questions on the forum because just about every device i had someone had already wrote a walk through.Once I went to the forum I was able to understand more about how it works. At first I thought I had been ripped off because it seemed like I had to pay to use this thing. You do not have to pay to use this. It works without the pay plan. There is a pay plan however and all it does is allow you to configure it remotely. If you configure it while you are at home within your network it lets you do it for free.I have no need to configure this away from my home so for me it was no issue. I love the fact that it does not steal my information to sell it. I feel like my privacy has been respected. I love the fact that it stays in your network. If the internet is down I can still control it. It it not like the other systems where all it does is data mine everything you do and then it does not work when some companys server is down. Why would i want my smart home to be dependent on some company's server? This one does not. This one is independent. I love it, I recommend it to everyone.

Hard to use and won't connect
I bought this to connect some zigbee shades to google home. This has been the most frustrating experience to use this hub. First, the shades won't easily connect to the hub. Second, upon researching, now I need to mess myself with drivers on the hub to get the shades to work. Third, the hub never connects to google home no matter how many times it tells me it is linked. Too bad it took me so long to get my act together to get the home setup and I just missed the return my 3 days, will be putting htis for sale. This is not plug and play as they make it sound or even a little tinkering. The whole point of getting the hub was supposed to be ease of use and this has been nothing like that so far.

Great hub
One of the most challenging things was to decide if I want to go with Hubitat or Home Assistant. I was googling for couple of days and found out that the more advanced users are using both to take advantage of combined integrations, but HA is more complex and more hustle to maintain. In my case both systems cost about $250. I got this hub with a small discount plus I had to purchase a Lutron pro hub (faster than cloud-only integration of a standard hub). And if I would chose HA I would have to buy HA yellow + Raspberry PI + small NVME drive + z-wave module. So I chose this hub for it's simplicity and it's antennas providing the strongest possible connection. Also I liked that it's all in one device that has built in wi-fi, zigbee and z-wave out of the box. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised to see how tiny it was, it's the size of a Lutron hub but twice thinner. It's by far the best looking hub I have. In my case I wanted to automate Lutron switches that control lights and fans with my Aqara motion and humidity sensors. I was previously using IFTTT but didn't like the 1 to 5 second delay that it takes for IFTTT to process event coming from my sensor and send the command back to Lutron, plus I had to pay a yearly subscription. The Hubitat hub allowed me to pair both Lutron Pro and Aqara M2 hubs with ease and add all of their child devices. I found the interface to be completely fine. I used the rule machine to define the new rules and this machine is significantly more powerful than IFTTT. Finally everything is working, and most importantly the lights turn on instantly.
