Perfect bench / seat for our shower remodel!
We decided to buy this teak shower bench for our shower remodel. We liked the style and it seemed to have a good weight limit. Upon receiving it, we really thought it looked and felt very nice. All the hardware is sturdy and robust. It comes with a template so you can drill your holes where you need to. I made sure to install extra studs for where the shower bench is going to go. DO NOT install this shower bench or ANY bench if you don’t have studs to drill the screws into.We also needed a floating shower shelf and we couldn’t find anything on the market that was a close enough match to this one. So we bought a second bench and I used two of the wooden panels, some aluminum tubing and plastic end caps, and heavy duty lock-slot brackets to make a shelf out of. Now our shower shelf matches the bench perfectly, and I have an extra set of all the hardware, plus an extra wood slab in case we need to replace anything some years down the road.We are heavy people, so I am installing removable screw in legs to help support the bench when we are using it to sit on. This way we can still have a nice, low-profile look when it’s folded against the wall, but also have extra weight support which will take pressure off the shower walls and mounting hardware. One thing about this bench: all the hardware is very heavy duty and doesn’t feel cheap or poorly made. If you’re an average or lighter weight person, I have no doubt this can support your weight. Each side of the bench screws into the wall with 5 long, stainless steel screws. You definitely want to pre-drill your holes, and I would suggest using an impact driver to make sure they get into the wall nice and tight. This thing looks so nice when it’s folded up against our new shower wall. And the shelf I made looks great too. You don’t have to worry that the shower bench will fall down on its own, because it has spring loaded ball bearings that “click” the shelf into place when it’s folded up. When the bench folds down, there are thick stainless steel rods that it sets on. The same type of rods are used as the “hinges”, so you know this thing isn’t going anywhere. The round parts that cover the mounting hardware are made of plastic, but the finish on them still looks nice and like metal. They basically “clip” into place on the mounting hardware, so just be sure you’re careful with those clips when installing or removing them and you should be fine. The wood feels great, and at first I wasn’t sure it was real teak, but when I had to carve out some of the wood for my hanging brackets for the shelf, it definitely looked and felt like teak underneath the exterior finish. The color of the wood is a golden brown, it’s not overtly red-toned like some other teak. If you have any oak with golden/brown staining in your bathroom, the finish on this bench will probably match that relatively closely. One last thing: so we are not skinny people. Even though this shower bench is rated for 400 lbs, and the hardware is nice and beefy, I didn't want to rely on the screws and the studs for all our weight. So I made a plan to install legs on the bench to help support our weight. However, I didn't want to ruin the low-profile look of the bench when it was folded up. So what I did was got some IKEA Adils table legs on eBay. I cut them down and modified them so that we could screw them into the bottom of the bench. I installed some threaded inserts on the bench where the legs would go, and I added some rubber end caps I found here on Amazon to the top and bottom. So now we can screw those legs into the bench when we know we want to use them, and they're easily removable when we're done. The rubber caps keep the legs from damaging the shower base or the wood on the bench. And the threaded inserts are nearly invisible next to the factory screws. I've included some pictures of how I did the legs in case you want to do the same. You might be able to do just one leg in the middle, but you'll need atleast 2 Adils style legs for each leg you intend to do, because you need the adjustable feet for BOTH ends of the legs. On the bottom, the adjustable feet are normal. On the top, you remove the adjustable foot, and instead just use a regular bolt going the opposite direction, this will give you the threaded post that you need to screw the legs into the threaded inserts. The bolts on these legs are M8 (metric 8mm bolts). The bolts I got were M8 35mm length, the threaded inserts I got were M8x20mm. The rubber end caps were 40mm. You can get all this stuff on Amazon except the legs themselves. You can essentially do the same thing with other brands of legs, but the Adils were cheap on eBay, and they're sturdy enough with the right hardware, so that's what I'd recommend if you want to add some strength to your shower seat.

Just like the ones in high end Motor homes!
Perfect! Descent teak wood slats that were well sanded and coated with appropriate water proofing - stainless steel parts that won’t rust for mounting parts.mounted to tile shower wall (4”x4” tiles) and yes, you can Stand on it.I’m 250 pds and I know I didn’t hit the 2x4 studs inside of wall. I just used 1/4” plugs that came with it for large screws to attach and decorative cover slips over mounting brackets and snap into placeEasy to install with magic marker to mark your holes with a torpedo level sitting on seat area -to show level. This may take an extra person for this part unless you were born with 3 hands or have extra talents - once hole are marked your half done!I started with small (very small) carbide drill bit as a pilot hole so larger tile bit doesn’t “wander” of of mark then use appropriate masonry/tile drill bit that matches plug size.I think the hardware set came with appropriate size. The little pilot hole one was just so bigger but had an accurate detention hole to follow where original magic marker spots wereOnly concern was with how it just slams down into place when you lower seat down but you have to just hold it as it releases from catch points and not let go before lowering seat. Good product and performs as it should.

Minimalistic Wall Mounted Folding Shower Seat
The Teak Folding Shower Seat (20in, Brushed Nickel) is a wall mounted folding seat. It comes with the hardware parts, though a drill and screwdriver will be needed for the installation. Ideally it needs to be mounted onto sturdy wood studs, which may require someone who has some experience in this department. The setup after assembly seems pretty seamless, kind of like it’s just floating like a wall shelf. Being able to fold up is convenient and space saving. Doesn’t necessarily need to be used as a shower seat, though it is rated to be used as such. The wood and metal construction seems to feel solid, and has considerably heft to it given that it is meant to be a seat. The cover is made of plastic though, and it clips onto the wall mount hardware for the fancy aesthetic look (do be careful as being plastic, it can be more prone to getting scratched, chipped, or cracked). Overall this is a decent minimalistic wall mounted folding shower seat.

"Danger Pin Broke Twice" with 185 lb person using seat!
Beware pins can break with no warning. I weigh 185 lbs. I always sit down gently. Both times I was leaning forward to wash my lower legs when the pins snapped. My back was still against the wall while leaning to wash my legs. I love the foldability and looks of the seat but feel it should be taken off the market. Someone over 300 lbs sitting down heavily could snap the pins and cause a major fall. I attached a picture of the last pin that broke. Possibly defective pins, as you can see rust 2/3 through breakage are as if maybe faulty! Also I could not countact seller to request where I could purchase the pins.

Poor instructions.
The installation instructions are very poor. They do not go into any detail on how to install product. ie; Drill diameter, do the supplied anchors provide enough strength for wallboard/tile installation? Tried using Amazon assistant to answer my questions and received no help.

Shower bench
The media could not be loaded. If installed by a handy man properly this bench is a heaven sent piece of furniture for your shower! I love it and would highly recommend it for those need to shower with assistance. Or like my wife and I , you get it for the aesthetic appeal. Not to mention being 75 years old and knowing sooner or later we will need it for health reasons.
