Great Tool for Bible Study
Most place names in the Bible mean nothing to people. This atlas is a great tool to discover the places of Bible events. I love the study of biblical geography and this is going to help me a lot. It is a bit pricey, but worth every penny.

Probably the best bible atlas available
A really excellent bible atlas. In most cases the text is on the page facing the map which it is describing. The maps are organised so that events in the Bible can usually be followed in chronlogical order.Although there is no index of Bible references it is usually fairly easy to find which map will be appropriate to a particular passage of the bible. The events on any map are numbered and the appropriate passages listed.Very well thought out (due to Mr Schlegel's ability and experience of teaching late teens/early 20s in the Holy Land) with the right mix of geography, history, and a little archaeology. Highly readable and above all it closely follows the Bible. One minor improvement I would like is for the maps to be based on satellite collected topographical data (eg SRTM) showing the land in shaded relief, rather than actual photos. Being more used to the former I find I tend to think of the shadows as defining hills rather than ravines.

This has been extremely helpful in my Bible Study by giving me a geographical picture of Israel and the surrounding lands of Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Turkey in today's Nations and I especially liked the following of the Chronology of the Bible with the precise synopses through historic Israel. I have always been curious about places and kings, cities and states that cannot be found on modern maps or other maps that are not historically presented in their specific period. This has been critically essential to my Biblical understanding of its storyline. I can remember it more easily and can order it in my mind like I have always struggled to try to do. I use it all the time while reading through the Bible. I have been blessed tremendously and have grown exponentially in my faith while using it for about the last 2 1/2 years. Thank you William Schlegel for producing such a masterpiece.

This is an amazing reference!
If you’re deeply interested in Israel, and what has happened there, this is a must have!

Would be better if edited to remove political views
The main reason that I purchased this was because it contains something very useful...maps that identify locations for various biblical events. That is rare for a bible atlas. Its one thing to read about Jesus walking on the water...its another thing to see the distance on a map of where that walk began and ended and realize that it was a LONG walk across the water. The authors put a lot of work into this. Its not a huge book but it is very informationally dense and concentrated. My only "con" about the book is that has a mild undertone that is political which I personally feel detracts from the book's objective presentation of the history of the area. Its not overt, but it is detectable and a reader might sometimes get the impression that the book has crossed the boundary between reporting the history to becoming promotional about the occupants. This isn't something that outweighs the previously mentioned value of the book's unique presentation of historical events geographically and with scripture citations in many instances.

Fantastic Maps and Info
This is the best Bible Atlas that I have ever seen and I have at least a dozen of them. This book will help you really understand the background information that is essential to really know what is happening in biblical events. Just get it, you'll see what I mean.38 year lay person bible student
