Easy Installation and User Friendly
Easiest thermostat I've ever installed. I bought a home with dual zone climate control. The main floor had Nest. The other was Honeywell. The Nest thermostat is very user friendly. Now I can control both thermostats from a single app.

Great
Great quality must have

Horrendous app and product.
This thing is impossible to control. Comes up heating up the house for no reason, it won’t show the current setting unless the app is reset by closing it at least once, etc.

Intuitive setup and user friendly
Like the simple dial to twist and set temperature manually or from my phone. Also like the elegant design and that the display shuts off until it senses you nearby. I don't think would use any other style at this point.

Waste of Time and Money
A traditional programmable thermostat could be programmed in under a minute, whereas programming this is a long and tedious process. The app lacked a program feature. The benefits of the product are limited if any.

Wifi connection breaks, replacement broke also
Our nest failed connecting to wifi few years ago while under warranty. After many attempts, finally reached Google/ nest. Then after extensive debugging as above, they admitted it was a hardware problem. Bought a temporary replacement, mailed the unit back and got a replacement unit. That unit worked about a year then it failed to connect also. Will never buy a nest again.

Will break in under 2 years
Absolute crap! Didn't even last 2 years before it started shorting out and not functioning. All on its own it decided that the heat didn't need to function so it would turn the air conditioning on to its lowest setting in the middle of the night and freeze us out. Then it would work for a week and then it would go right back to it. A full reset and everything still didn't fix it and I have a brand new furnace. I am really tired of electronics only lasting 2 years, they'll make it past their warranty but after that they fail. Not worth the money this planned obsolescence in electronics needs to stop!
