Do I need to purchase a "game" for this cardboard set to work with my switch?

No, it comes with games in a cartridge.

Does the kit include the robot?

No it doesn't, there is a separate Robot Kit (https://www.amazon.com/Nintendo-Labo-Robot-Kit-Switch/dp/B01N4N8NAL).

How big are the sets once built? I'm trying to figure out where we would store them all?

These are fairly big. I haven’t built all of them yet. My guess is it would take a 20 or 24 gallon storage container to store the ones from the variety pack once they are all assembled.
