This is the Foundation of a Great Little Home Weather Station
Pair this with a Ecowitt Temp Sensor, WH32 or even better, WH32-EP and install those sensors in a Radiation Shield and you have the beginnings of a Fantastic and Accurate Weather / Environmental Station. You WILL NEED a Console Display or a Gateway. I have the GW1200 that is a good price point. I have had an Ambient Weather WS-2000 with Display in the past and was not sure I would like not having a console, but we are on computers and phones so much, we have not missed a display and there is a big savings skipping a display.Using the Ecowitt Weather site and/or the LAN WebUI you get all the data you need on your phone or PC.We have set up a full array of sensors: including indoor and outdoor temp, lightning, soil and lake water sensorsAfter following the various set up instructions, with some calibration and tweaking, we have a very accurate and cost effective station. Any other brand with this level of data would cost upwards of double or more. And being a component system, any part that fails is cheaper and easy to replace.NOTE: if you are looking at an Ambient Weather station, most AW stations are made by Ecowitt / Fine Offset (the parent company). And if you buy Ambient Weather, you are locked in to their gear, While Ecowitt CAN read (most/all) AW sensors, AW CANNOT read Ecowitt sensors. And AW sensors cost more $$. It is a shame that AW locked the WS80 out of the US market under their WS-5000 label, it looks like a fine unit.Attaches are some pics and the starter Rain Calibration settings for the WS-85In the End ... You CANNOT Go Wrong with Ecowitt gear.

Interesting Sensor
Have always had good luck with ecowitt products but was unsure of the ultrasonic wind. Seems like a crazy idea. Works great though

Quality anemometer for a great price
I'm satisfied so far, great sensor for the price.I've got this mounted at 4100 ft elevation at the top of a tree. It appears to be quite accurate and reliable, especially once I positioned the WIFI gateway fairly close (when greater than 100 feet away there were some occasional missed data points). So far no issues with wind gusts up to 40MPH. It's going to be cold and snowy up there this winter so we'll how it fares with those conditions. While climbing the tree I hit the sensor with a branch and the plastic mounting nubbin on the sensor broke fairly easily. It fell at least 20 feet onto the forest floor and was otherwise undamaged - Ecowitt was helpful and responsive about sending a replacement part so it's back up there working fine.Requires an additional temperature sensor to get outdoor temp data. Currently it's also providing solar radiation data as well.Update June 2025: still working great after almost a year, max wind speeds up to 70mph and below freezing/snowy weather over the winter with no issues.
