Q: What is meant by "using any XL shields?"

There are at least two different kinds of XL shields. This adapter works with the ones that have a hole in them for it. Mine had a black plug in the whole. I just poped it out and installed the vacuum adapter.

Q: Will this work with the T-200?

We only recommend the use of the vacuum adapter when it is necessary to use a HEPA vacuum to comply with federal lead paint regulations or when cutting into a ceiling with asbestos and using a HEPA vacuum. Otherwise the soft silicon gasket makes an excellent dust seal to keep everything inside the shield as the shield has a ball bearing insert so the shield does not spin with the hole cutter while cutting. The blade holders on the T-200 are different from those on the X-230+ we sell and so are going to hit the vacuum adapter flange inside the shield.

Q: Will a Festool D27 hose snug over this adapter? I have measured the hose and it looks like it may have to stretch a couple mm to fit a 1" adapter.

IDK about the Festool but I wrapped electrical tape around the Hole Pro Shield adaptor until the Fein 921069A13 1-1/4 in. Flexible Connector (short rubber hose) slides in and stays in place.
