Works for Magpul forend with slight modification.
I'm writing this review for anyone wanting to install a magpul forend on their mossberg 500 with a 6 & 3/4 inch action tube as Magpul moe forends are designed for the 7 & 3/4 action tube. Buy this nut! Some people gave the nut a low rating because they had to modify their magpul forend to get it to work.1. This is a hogue nut designed for a hogue stock. Get over it.2. Your trying to make a forend fit that wasn't designed for your gun. Obviously it'll take some small modification.3. The nut is high quality and is EXACTLY what it's advertised to be. That said I haven't tried it on a hogue forend. If you already have a magpul forend you'll notice the original nut will not slide into the front of the forend, such is the case with this hogue adapter nut as well. The magpul forend is designed with a small collar to go around the nut and then the nut jams itself against a shoulder in the front of the forend. After you buy this nut you will need to modify your magpul forend slightly so that the adapter nut will slide into the front of the forend (you'll need to remove the small "shoulder" the nut would normally press against). I did not have a dremel to do this with so I bought a small sanding drum (1/4") and stuck it on my cordless drill and began expanding the front of of the magpul forend(this is inside the forend and cannot be seen once installed). As soon as it was large enough to slip this new adaptor nut inside the forend (snug fit) the new forend fit my 6 & 3/4 action tube like it was made for it. Once you've done this there is no way to tell the magpul forend wasn't designed for your shorter action tube unless you remove it completely, look inside, and see some small sanding marks.

Makes a 7 5/8 forend work on a 6 3/4 action tube!
HUGE THANKS TO REVIEWER JASON!!!!!!!!!! His trial and error making his 6 3/4 action tube work is nothing short of God's work. His efforts led me to not only have the pump shotgun Ive always wanted AND saved money doing it. Win/Win in my book.As suggested by another reviewer, you can use this Forend nut adapter to install a 7 5/8's forend on a 6 3/4 action tube. This is significant because there are hardly any forends for 6 3/4. In my case, I was trying to add a vertical grip to my Maverick 88 that already had a Phoenix Technologies Kick-lite pistol grip stock. I wanted a setup for easier manipulation as a home defense shotgun. Since the Maverick's forend has the action bars molded to it, it cannot accept a different forend. Also, finding Mossberg 500 action tubes at the moment is difficult due to this COVIDiocy. When you do find them, the 7 5/8's is nearly $80! A new 6 3/4" is about $50. If I can save $30 Imma do it.I paired this nut with a Mossberg 6 3/4 action tube, a Magpul MOE 590 Forend and Magpul RVG. Using a Dremmel with sanding barrel and a flapper sander, I was able to open up the front of the forend "tunnel" enough to accept this nut but still remain snug to the forend. After a few test fits, I assembled the forend and installed on the Maverick. Action cycles perfectly with no slop and a huge improvement on grip and manipulation of the shotgun. And like that, I have a great forend on a Maverick 88 setup for me and I save $30 bucks in the process!

Good quality product, tough to find.
Every website showed this on backorder. This seller had it and shipped quick. The adapter nut is a great product. This is my second one. I have been using one on my Mossberg 500A for over 15 years. It is a little thicker than the stuck nut, so some forends (like Magpul) will need a little filing inside so the nut slips in freely.

If you have a Mossberg 500 or Maverick 88 shotgun ...
If you have a Mossberg 500 or Maverick 88 shotgun and you want to upgrade the hand guard - this can possible help you do it without breaking the bank. Late model Mossberg 500 and Maverick 88 models have a 1-piece slide action assembly / hand guard. This means the handguard is not meant to be removed. To get around this many people buy a replacement slide action (7 3/4" long) and then the replacement handguard of their choice to install over the new slide action tube. Some older Mossberg / Mavericks shotguns have a removable handguard, but the slide action tube is 6.75" long. Most times people also buy a replacement 7.75" slide action assembly. That's around $60-70. If you have an existing 6.75" slide action, use this nut so you can install a normal handguard - it makes up the extra length. If you need to replace your slide action assembly, you can buy a new 6.75" assembly (usually HALF the cost of the 7.75" assembly) and use this part to make it work as well.Note: With the original nut removed from your slide tube, the handguard slides over the tube, and then you install this nut. Some clearance (5 min work with a dremel tool) was necessary when I installed an aftermarket handguard.

Used to make a Magpul forend work with a 6 3/4 Mossberg 500 action tube with a little modification.
I wanted to switch my Mossberg Maverick 88 pinned forend with a Magpul forend. The 6 3/4 action tubes are much more common and cheaper than the 7 3/4 action tubes so I figured i'd see if I could make it work. With a little (or a lot) of dremmeling inside of the Magpul forend I was able to fit this adaptor nut in to make it work without any evidence of modification. To be clear, without removing some material inside of the Magpul forend, this will not fit, however with a few minutes and a decent dremel and a lot of patience you can make it work just fine.

Used it to install Magpul MOE forend BUT...
You will need this if your Mossberg 500 has the shorter slide action tube length. That being said, I used it to install the Magpul MOE forend in FDE for the Mossberg. I was a little unsure about the using the Hogue forend adapter since there were mixed reviews regarding whether it would fit the Magpul forend. Based on my experience, it did fit BUT only after some modification. You will need to sand the inside of the forend down and maybe sand the sides of the nut so that it will slip in. The nut is too large to fit on its own. When it was all said and done, the forend locked up tight and the adapter nut did its job.
