Great roof bag - no roof bars needed !
Cracking travel bag sits on the roof straps to the rails - did worry I’d end up on the m5 with the bag off the roof - and my knickers everywhere lolStrapped it in and tied it and it was brilliant ! Didn’t move for the journey and totally waterproof. Excellent and cheaper and roomer than a roof box ! Buy one you won’t be disappointed

Read the description fully
As per this reviews title is definitely suggest reading the product description in full and not just buying based on the photos provided. This is a bag, and whilst it's made of reasonable durable material it is a bag and I think the listed images give the appearance of a more firm/solid box.For us the bag style storage has worked fine for our needs, it's basically allowed us to travel with a few extra items. Again I'll highlight these have been lighter more textile based items, not sure I'd trust anything too bulky or heavy. The bag has so far delivered on being waterproof and the included non slip mat is helpful, for extra protection though we've used on top of a rack as I was a little concerned about scratching the roof.Fits easily and just as easy to remove so it doesn't have to be left on the car all the time.Overall a decent storage bag that's probably just about value for money

Nothing like the image
The GEARCELL car roof bag has its advantages but also comes with some limitations. On the positive side, it’s definitely waterproof and made of sturdy material, which is great for protecting your belongings from the elements. It also packs down small, making it easy to store when not in use. If you have a roof rack, it can serve as a viable and more affordable alternative to a traditional roof box, especially for bulky but lightweight items. However, it does have its shortcomings. The lack of front straps for added security is a concern, especially if you plan to fill it to its full capacity. At £80, it’s on the pricier side, but it doesn't inspire confidence in durability, feeling flimsier than the promotional images suggest. The included rubber mat does a good job of preventing scratches and sliding but doesn’t address the challenge of safely managing heavy loads.Overall, while it works well for light, bulky items and specific setups like mine (with roof rails and bars for extra support), it’s not the most robust option. If you’re after something with more stability and security, you might want to explore other options.

Nothing like in the image
It's quite a shame that when you get this roof bag, it's nothing like what you see in the first image.Note that this is a bag, however in the image, it looks like a box, very square with curved and rounded off edges, which when you get this, a fully folded pack, and thus after unpacking, will never look anything like this at all.If I veer away from discussing the aesthetics, it's a decent storage bag and will store your items, but I'd avoid mounting this directly onto the roof without having any adequate rack in place. Apart from it damaging your roof itself and when you place items in the bag, it does not have any hard surface, the top of your roof will have soft spots, so there will be a slim chance that it could leave small dents plus you will need to remove the seals, which isn't recommended, unless you don't particularly care for your car, this may not be your ideal choice.

Large storage - useful alternative to bulky boof boxes
This packs very small and take no space at all - great storage, far better than bulky roof boxes. It's huge with 21 ft3 which should be around 600l - I think the biggest roof boxes they make are around 600 so this is definitely one of the bigger ones out there. It comes with a roof protector and all the standard clips - I am not sure I'd be comfortable putting a lot of weight into this though - especially as there are no front straps. Some of the (better) other roof bags come with front bar/ front straps which I'd definitely recommend when using this one. If you were to put on roof rails and then this bag in between, then it's a perfect solution. Pack it loosely, I'd be worried about having to pick up my underwear from the middle of the m25.All in all - I am still not fully decided if this is a WOW or just OK product. It seems good quality and straps/lock etc are very sturdy. It's definitely waterproof and the huge plus is how small it packs given its big size. But ... can you really pack it full to its full potential in a safe manner? It does not have the front straps which add extra safety/security and at £80 it is one of the more expensive ones out there. I've used it twice now and all went well but I had roof rails attached to roof bars and this box firmly put in between and secured by the front Thule bar. And I only added light load / large suitcases but they were very light. My car also has a pano sun roof and I'd hate to damage it with heavy load. But this is not fault of this product so I'm giving it all 5 starts and time will tell - I'll test this more and review if needed.

Sturdy & Waterproof!
For additional storage that can be easily removed (or easier than having a roof box), this is genuinely a great alternative BUT, I would probably use this with a roof rack rather than directly on your roof because the risk of scratching your roof could be high. The bag isn't exactly 'solid' though - it's more like a giant bag (which is a nice and waterproof), but it's still a bag so if you're expecting something solid, you might want to look elsewhere.
