Say What?
This is the coolest thing I've seen or used in a long time and only seen in sci fi movies or books.Starting with design. It's thin, about the same as my phone but narrower - height the same. It's jet black with a glass top. Buttons on the side as well. Now the fun - when you turn it on the graphic is totally awesome (see images) and you can get right into it. After getting the basic navigation down you can easily find anything and get to anything without fussing with the manual. Swipe up, down, right or left. That's it. In those four screens you can immediately select the language of yourself which will be an orange button and that of another country. The list is massive. Here you can do a simple translation, mostly for personal use I'd assume. The next option is FACE to FACE - using this feature splits the phone into two screens one half facing you and the other half facing person you're communicating with.Simply press the orange button, say what you will, there's little wave bars to let you know it's listening. After about 2 seconds it will intrpret and speak in their language to them. Then they can do the same back to you. While using perfect inflection and tone it also will text out your conversation on the screen so no accidental mistakes or learn how to say something in the foreign language to use without the device, there's more...This also can translate written text in a plethora of languages. What? So if you're in a subway or monorail, airport or just trying to read something, point, capture and translate. SO useful when traveling overseas. There's a camera feature, for location and personal safety as well. It uses Global Internet which should be able to pin you when not in your regular service area or wi-fi.My wife of 20 years is Russian, I American and we tested it extensively and it was 99% flawless. It can even handle slang and cursing. Sounds funny but that can be useful to identify the temperament and attitude when having a conversation. We are planning our first trip to Japan this Winter and I am SO happy to take this along, it will make communication unbelievably easier, stay safer for sure, and hopefully keep us from getting lost, unless that's the idea.At first I thought this was too pricey. Absolutely not and if I hadn't have tried it, there's no way I would have purchased it. Knowing what I know now, it's essential.

Very nice. Better for some languages than others
Likes: Function, menus, world data, conversation mode, saved and reusable phrasesDislikes: World data activated automatically instead of waiting until I wanted it to. Portuguese is Brazil, not Portugal. Some languages do proper contextual translation but others just give you the target language's characters for what you said phonetically.Ordered this in preparation for a European vac. Love the concept, the size and core functions. I wish Portugal was an option. Was a bit concerned that simple things like numbers wouldn't translate to Korean from English. It would return the Hangul for "one" instead of returning "hana". It worked in reverse though so it might have been a weird example.

Works well and snappy but value will really depend on how much one travels and to where
The media could not be loaded. What's included:- Translator- Charging cable- User guide- Sim keyKey specs:- 8 core arm processor- 5.05" Full HD screen- 4 microphone array- Weight: 130 gramsThe iFLYTEK translator is one that works well and allows for slightly less awkward circumstances when trying to communicate with someone that does not speak the same language. The translator is light and slim making it very portable which is a necessity for an item such as this. There a dozens of languages (60 in al) that can be used virtually anywhere in the world especially given the fact that there is a 2 year subscription added that allows the translator to be used in virtually all regions around the world. In my video I highlight the key aspects and configurations that allow for speaking to someone that does not speak your language. Each configuration has various advantages and disadvantages but as I demonstrate the configuration that I prefer the most, is one that allows for hands free use of the translator, where it relies on physical gestures that trigger the translator's actions.I note in my video how this is similar to a reporter interviewing someone and to be honest, this feels more natural that having to press buttons or use the split screen option. The translator's screen is full hd which really helps and font, brightness and other aspects of the translator can be changed in the settings. In terms of performance, the device works well. It does have a few quirks but generally speaking if one speaks with a normal tempo, the translator can catch the vast majority of words that I tested. I found that those that speak with a very fast tempo can occasionally cause a odd word here and there. The use of OCR to recognize written words is also quite effective but it suffers from the short comings of OCR which show up mainly in translating hand written words. I believe however that this will be mainly used to translate things like signs, menus, instructions etc in foreign lands so that may not be much of an issue. When I evaluate the value of this device I obviously turn to comparing it with a phone and to be honest there are some areas where a phone performs nearly as good, however, the various configurations of the iFLYTECK that I noted above and the use of several microphones help to make the iFLYTEK a good experience. It's also nice that the device is dedicated to voice translation which also allows you to transfer conversations to your PC for later analysis.Additionally, the good battery life and the fact that I want to preserve my phone's battery for actually speaking on the phone are additional advantages for me.But as I mention in my headline, value will really depend on use given the premium price being paid, and so the occasional vacation or travelling to large cities are likely going to be circumstances where I might need to use a translator at all. As a result, this will have greater value the more one travels as well as the areas where one travels, making more remote regions potentially more accessible. I can't speak to travel patterns, but for me, I look forward to using this when I travel, even if it does make me look like a tourist - which may not be an ideal thing to do in some places or circumstances.Cheers,

Pretty Cool Translation Device
I have to say this is a great alternative to relying on online translation services. I absolutely love the conversation mode, which populates two bubbles to have a full conversation between two people sitting opposite each other. It's easy to setup and use and super functional for daily situations. The translations seem pretty accurate in my limited testing of Spanish, and come pretty quickly. You can also simply lookup words without having to pull out a different device like your phone (if you have international data). I love the fact that this INCLUDES a 2 year SIM card to have internet access to utilize this device online in foreign countries. It's such an added value to this device. I do wish that it didn't have to be activated immediately, but could be utilized at a later date prior to a trip. It would be nice to familiarize myself with the device at home without running the meter on international data. It connects to wifi as well, which can help if you find yourself without service. The interface is great, the battery is great (charges via USB C), and the idea is great. I really love this thing. If I had to improve anything, I would have added a wrist strap, especially since there is a slot for one. Why wouldn't it then be included? I would also add a protective case, since this isn't a phone where there are likely dozens of case options out there, even though it has a similiar form factor and screen that needs protecting. Given the price, some protection should be included. All in all those things are minor, and it does the job very well. It's a must have if you're going to a foreign country, or trekking through several. Recommended for sure.
