Delightful and magical
I’m not really the target age group but I still found this book lots of fun. It’s also packed with information about cruising (and Britishisms which are always fun) but in an entertaining way. I loved the characterisation - Emma’s wise and thoughtful mother, practical and sensible father, and annoying little brother (I wonder if he’s still speaking to her?) and found it unexpectedly moving. Key stage 2 kids would enjoy this book, especially any going on a cruise - although they may be disappointed at the lack of animals on board.

Strange editing, clearly written for American audience
So disappointed that this has obviously been written with American audiences in mind. The over explanation of British words just feels bizarre. An odd choice for a fiction book. Maybe a glossary at the back would have been more suitable if the author's thought this was needed. Do people really not know that mum, mom, mam, mother, all mean the same thing?I'm an avid reader of all types of fiction and this is the first fiction book I've read with such bizarre editing. The book is laid out more like a play (see pic on review) than a story.Perhaps a professional editor was needed but feel like this missed the mark on helping the story to flow. Really disappointed as I was so looking forward to reading this again with my son on our upcoming cruise.
