Aiwa Exos-3...HiFi & Ultra-rugged...All In One!!
The Aiwa Exos-3 is one amazing speaker! All in all, a true 10 out of 10 on all aspects...from design, size, portability, ruggedness, firmware update-able, and not to mention quality of sound. The Aiwa engineers have really delivered a very respectable, mid-size offering to compete with (and annihilate in most cases) the Sony, JBL, Altec Lansing, Marshall, & UE big boys of the world. Plus, Aiwa's customer service just cannot be beat...period!The biggest, first-impression you get when you open the box is that this speaker is built like a tank. Very durable cloth grill covering, with an extremely durable resin chassis. The passive bass radiators are exposed, but extremely durable and feel like they are really well engineered to take a beating. The button layout is clean and simple to follow, and the included carry strap (also easy to install/remove) is quite nice.Connecting to the Exos-3 is super easy and takes only a couple seconds. One item to note...when you do connect to the speaker for the first time (and subsequent times), the speaker / phone pairs at 50% volume. That might be a bit loud for some users...so watch your volume on your phone or tablet. From my iPhone XS Max, the speaker & phone volume is in sync. Pressing and holding the Vol - or Vol + will enable the skip forward / skip back feature. Pressing and releasing the power button is the play/pause feature.Sound: well...it's amazing! The added tweeter in the center of the speaker gives a nice high frequency clarity that is missing on MANY portable speakers this size. Sound is fuller and more accurate than the Soundcore Motion + and Motion Boom. The two main drivers do a great job with full range sound reproduction, and they still manage a good amount of stereo L/R separation as well. Bass is full and tight, but not over-bloated or over-EQ'd. The Exos-3 is one of the best sounding, most accurate portable speakers in this size range available today. If you truly are wanting accurate sound reproduction...Aiwa knows what they are doing! The Exos-3 uses USB-C for charging, and does have the USB-A out for charging a mobile device. It comes with the USB-C cable and USB charging block as well (unlike others who only throw in a cable). Speaker takes a good 4-5 hours to fully charge. Side note: If you really want a mind-blowing experience, buy 2 of them and put them into TWS, or true wireless stereo mode. OMG! Such great sound, at such a great price point...super portable and super rugged as well.Just buy one...or two. And, backed by Aiwa's excellent customer support. You just can't go wrong with this speaker!

Good quality speaker and sound, even better with two
This is my second Exos-3, so I have now have a pair of them. They automatically pair together so that you get a great pair of wireless stereo speakers. You pair your phone (or whatever bluetooth device you want) to one of them, and then the two of them pair to each other automatically. You do not need two to get stereo, but two make the sound hugely better. Powering one speaker off automatically shuts the second one off as well which is pretty cool.I also have a pair of Exos-9's, although you cannot fairly compare them to the Exos-3's. The Exos-3's fit on the desk, shelf, a lot of places the Exos-9's cannot fit.Taking a look at the physical design of the Exos-3, it looks great. Nice two tone red/black (there is also an all black version). Big buttons on the top were pretty solid. There are battery/power indicator lights on the front. USB-C, woohoo!Sound wise it's very good (would not have gotten two otherwise). The big thing for me is the bass, and it's pretty decent. Like any speaker, the source and location of the speaker(s) makes a huge difference. It gets decently loud, but keep in mind this is a small portable speaker so do not expect miracles. There are no EQ controls on the speakers do you need adjust that at the source.

Excellent Bluetooth speaker for the money
I can say I’m kinda a Bluetooth addict so I bought the Aiwa exos-9 when it first came out and where I was always an Aiwa fan in the 80s and 90s I figured I would give it a try all I can say is wow!! It sounds better than anything I have bought so far including most of the Bose line up and many others so when I got an email offering the new exos-3 I figured why not try it out it’s only 148.00 I received it quick and the quality of the case and fit and finish was better than I was expecting for this price point it even came with a nice little strap to use to carry it around. It’s just the right size to be able to put it on a desk, counter, nightstand, etc. and well the sound quality is amazing I highly recommend this speaker to anyone not looking to break the bank that wants great sound and a good looking speaker. I would like to try out Aiwa earbuds but I just don’t use them often enough to justify spending the money so I guess I can’t comment on them at this point

What a Disappointment
I purchased two of these units to use at our booth at the State Fair. In fact I had to return one unit for a replacement as it would not take a proper charge and the sound would go all fritzy.I had my sights set on the Aiwa for some years. The Exos 9 was to die for..but I wanted to pair the speakers with my XM and ipods for total music sound and complete library of tuneage. The Aiwa Exos 3 would have worked perfect--one unit for one ten for section of the booth, another for the far end and the XM system in the center.... The VERY IMPORTANT issue for us was the ability of the Exos 3 to be able to operate via AC as well as battery. That very question was posed to the Amazon community and the answer was yes, the unit operates on AC as well as DC. That is completely wrong. Now I face Saturday night going hot and heavy with sales and music at the fair and having two thirds of the system go dead--its too late to do anything else now. I am not a happy camper. Maybe I will reach out to Joe Born of Aiwa USA if he is still around....then again, what will come of it--right? My fault...I trusted the Amazon community for an answer....silly me. Oh an dthre is no way to replace the batteries when they degrade in two years....all the way around this purchase was a bad move--but the sound was nice...too bad
