Excellent party speaker
Great sound and bass. Wish it went just a little bit louder but I could just add another speaker if I wanted to. Tested with some really bass heavy songs and it played with zero distortion. Also played a few movies and sounded great with Lord of the Rings and Top Gun Maverick. My only wish is that there was an LCD screen or something showing which settings you are using for sound mode and DJ effect. I accidentally hit the DJ effect that added white noise and when I played my first song it was full of static and sounded horrible. I was literally ready to box it up and send it back when I decided to try cycling through the sound modes and figured out what I did. Although the speaker lights up when you change modes there's still no way of knowing which mode you chose until you cycle back to the original settings... this is a huge fail. Gonna try the app tomorrow but I've already heard it is a crappy app and it has very low ratings on Google Play Store. Anyway, after listening to asome music, we tried to karaoke, and it worked really well. Impressive sound for music, movies, and karaoke. Nice that karaoke has settings for mic volume and echo. Altogether a terrific speaker, happy with my purchase, other than the lack of a LCD screen for mode info.Edit: there is ONE way to find out which mode you've enabled for DJ effect and equalizer, and that is to install the Sound Tower app. It's a really terrible app, looks like it was built 20 years ago (Samsung: DO BETTER!!!). But at least it's a way to figure out which settings are enabled.

not a bass heavy machine, but effective and good quality sound
very few thorough reviews on the mx st90b out on the web. sound quality is excellent, clear, with good separation coming from 2 woofers, 2 mid range speakers, and 2 tweeters. Neutral profile sound, not muddy or too warm and not distorted. just a nice even sound with the bright but not shrill highs, clean mids not muddled, and palpable bass that is not underwhelming. Bass has enough bone rattling punch to be effective but not a standout nor does it completely overpower the mids and highs. Volume can max out high enough to be deafening and uncomfortable. It will fill a large space with good quality music. Bi-directional speakers offer a wide area of effect and act like stereo speakers with each side acting as left and right channels. comes with a very handy remote control, but the sound tower app is lacking and the helpful little screen from the previous model is gone. I wish it had an internal rechargeable battery but alas it is plug in only. The design of the unit is also very sleek, simple, and elegant, it will not look out of place in a classy living room. Pairing the device was quick and I did not encounter any connectivity issues. Overall, i am very happy with this product and highly recommend it. If you're going to complain that JBL is louder with more bass blah blah blah, just take your JBL and go. If you are a looking at the Samsung mx st90b, then it is a solid buy especially if you can find it at a discounted price.PS watching videos of the speaker playing music does not do this justice, you must hear it in person to appreciate the quality of music it puts out.

A Solid effort, but....
I own many things Samsung... phones, TVs and more. I bought this speaker a few months ago and feel I can now give an honest assessment.Pros:+I bought the 90 size (largest of the Sound Towers Samsung makes). It is well built.+Sound is clear.+Weather resistant. Controls are sealed and can safely be used out in most weather elements. It Does have it's limits, so its probably not something I'd use in a heavy rain scenario.+Cool lighting...if you are into that kind of thing.+The 90 does have wheels on one end for easier moving.Cons:-The Samsung app that controls it can be quite fickle. It tends to need to reconnect often and pairing can sometimes present a challenge. The buttons on the app are not always clear as to what they actually do. The bass button has no clear indicator that it's on and you have to listen to tell the difference (which is not necessarily obvious).-The largest size does not have the ability to be charged as it has no battery built in like smaller models of this speaker.-Bass response is lacking. When you engage the bass button on the remote app do Not expect to hear a significant amount of bass. This unit just doesn't have it. Which is a bit disappointing at this price point.-Volume has its limits. This speaker can do quite well in say a living room. But if you are hoping to have a massive power stream of sound in say a back yard gathering, you might find yourself questioning of the claimed 1700 watt power that is touted in the specs.First off, I did buy the open box model that seems to be readily available and offered at just under 400. It arrived in perfect shape and was fully functional. So, don't be apprehensive about buying the Like New open box offering. It's a lot easier to swallow that than the full price. At the time the full retail was at 1000. I think the price has come down a little since then. But I would still say this speaker falls more in line with the 400 price point I got mine at. Had I paid the full 1000 I would have probably returned it due to its lack of heavy bass response and volume limitations (Its loud, but for me personally I expected the top end to be louder for the size, rating and price point.)I like that it is resistant to water and elements. I would not hesitate to use this near my pool. But I wouldn't really feel comfortable using it in the rain (not sure why anyone would want to).The sound quality is very good. Make no mistake. But Bose makes the S1 Pro which is smaller and sounds just as good for less money. You can adjust the dance/party lighting on the unit if that is important to you. My kids like the way the lights dance with the music. When you adjust the volume the lighting goes in an up or down respectively. Which is cool since when you adjust the app it doesn't give you a status bar or number. The Samsung Sound Tower is a solid offering and I am content with it at the open box price point I paid. Keep in mind that this 90 series is a fairly large unit and portability does have its limits with the size and inability to be charged and have built in battery like its smaller siblings in the lineup. If I could give half stars this would probably more be a 3.5 start rating. It's a good unit, but don't equate its size to suggest you will have deep bass or unlimited volume. It is solid and well built. You won't be disappointed if you go into it knowing its limits!
