Incredible value for the money
I haven't played guitar since my high school band in the late 1980s, so I didn't want to spend too much on an instrument that I wanted to relearn after 30+ years. I ran across this Ibanez and it was $229, which was on target. I knew Ibanez as a legit brand so I kept it in my mind as having real potential to purchase. I noticed one day that it was being sold for $189, so I bought it immediately. How can you turn down a legit guitar for that cheap? When I received the guitar I was thrilled. It looks great and feels great. The neck has a Les Paul feel, and the body is similar to a flat top Hamer. I look forward to playing the guitar again. The scale is a little shorter than I was expecting, but that's OK because I have small hands and I think it will be easier for me to play this way. This guitar has me excited about playing again. Two bad things about delivery. It got banged up enough that the little plastic part that covers the neck bolt was broken. Not substantial damage overall, but a little troubling. The one that worries me more is the very loose neck humbucker pick up. I wonder if they left it loose for transport so that it wouldn't get mashed? Or maybe it's loose because it got mashed during transport. Who knows, but it is loose and wiggly.I reckon this guitar is awesome for beginners to intermediate. It seems like it will take me several years before I outgrow it, if I ever do.I can't believe I got it for the price I did. At $229 is is still an outstanding value for the money and I highly recommend it

Amazing Value, Great Sound - Buy!
Long story short this guitar is an amazing value. It looks great, it sounds great, it is an absolutely worthy SG substitute.Pros: Looks amazing, sounds great with 2 dual humbuckers giving you a wide range of tones, sturdy strap studs that tbh do not need strap locks, accessible neck, quick-change tailpiece, and of course - that price!Cons: factory QA needs some help. You can see in the pics one of my humbuckers (bridge) was not seated correctly in the body before the retainer was screwed in. The pickup was bent at a 45 degree angle and was literally touching the strings! Happily it took about 30 seconds to fix, and the electrical were all good. That is my only significant complaint. I did not have any of the other setup issues some are noting.Indifferent: those are *not* push pull pots! Not sure who said they were, but I got excited over nothing. Factory strings are cheap but that is such a non-complaint (replace them, cheapskate - factory strings are always crud). Pickups are middle-of-the-road, but are fine for anyone not ready to get into guitar gear tinkering. Yes, it is neck-heavy. All SG types are. SG types also tend to go out of tune pretty quickly & frequently, so be prepared to fine-tune between songs. Also: the way it lays in the case with its headstock angled the way it is means that the D and G heads are making contact with the backing, so you'll pretty much always need to tune strings 3&4 when taking it out of the case.Verdict: BUY! A great first / gig / or backup guitar. This will be my main guitar for the foreseeable future. May not be A+ studio grade, but neither am I tbh. If you're just looking to rock, this guitar is for you!

These sell out quickly too!
It has been said here and elsewhere.... Ibanez, best bang for the bucks! I can see why Amazon from time to time is out of stock on this model. It's well made, with attention to providing the budget minded buyer with a solid well made guitar. At $199.00, it's a steal. Neck straightness and action just right out of the box. Strings sounded good and smooth moving up and down the neck. Hardly any of that stickiness and resistance sometimes found on some necks of inexpensive guitars in this price range. Very playable without much setting up. Pickups are fine. Not gonna get high output pickups from a budget guitar anyway. Fit and finish is excellent, no blemushes or anything that had me thinking the QC person was asleep at the job. The Ibanez AX is my budget substitution for a Gibson SG.... Plus, SGs don't come in light metallic blue.
