Have tried many styles and designs but this one is the best. It's made well and has the feature of being able to change the grabber part to meet my needs in grabbing items. I have even picked up change from the floor!!! They are sturdy and last a long time. Others I have paid $30 for broke within a few months....these did not and are reasonably priced.

Second or third time buying. Wish they were a bit sturdier and could handle heavier items. Great, fabulous for picking up sticks or small limbs on lawn. Great for reaching things above your head or in places where your arm isn’t long enough. Only works well with lightweight items. Everyone could use, comes in handy. Great for people who cannot bend down to get things off floor.

Since my back went bad about four years ago I have had the "opportunity" to try a number of reachers. These Birdrock jobs seem to work about the best and hold up well although they are made of mostly plastic and will eventually wear out and break. The ability to rotate the grabber "head" comes in handy and they come in various lengths which is also useful. For example, when I had to use a shower seat I bought a 16-inch reacher so I could pick up the soap if I dropped it. I purchased a suction cup soap holder (Amazon Item Number B00021LRMM) which turned out to be a perfect holder for the reacher. These things make life easier for people with limited ability to bend down or reach way up.

This product is overall impressive and well-made. It is sturdy, easy to use, and does a great job of what it is intended to do. However, there is one design flaw that I would like to see addressed.The steel braided cable that connects the handle to the grippers is subjected to excessive flexing during use. This can cause the cable to fray and break over time. Under normal household usage, this might take years to occur, but under daily commercial use, it could fail within a month.To address this issue, I would recommend that the cable be connected to a pivoting bushing. This would effectively reduce the stress on the cable and extend the product's lifespan by several additional years.Despite this flaw, I still recommend this product. It is a great value for the price, and in normal use, it will last for several years. I bought a new set to replace mine when they failed, and that should tell you something. Unfortunately, upon receipt of the new ones, I was disappointed to see no apparent change to the internally flawed design.Overall rating: 4-1/2 out of 5 stars. Would be 5 out of 5 if the flawed design was addressed.

(Original review) I had owned a previous version of these and loved them. I used them extensively outside for, e.g., picking up the small branches that fall off willow trees. About the first or second day I used them, the handle snapped when I was picking up a full can of beer that had rolled under a table. Their service department sent me a replacement quickly, so that was good. I think they can made the product much better by just thickening the plastic trigger handle a bit. The big plus of these is that they can pick up very small objects, like a small pill, with ease. They are finely built at the pickup end.UPDATE: Sad to say the two replacement grabbers broke at the handle. So now all 4 of the original are dead. The last one broke as I was picking up an item that weighed about two ounces. I'm over 70 and my grip is okay but it is not overpowering. Again, the handle is too thin.
