I ordered 7or 8and made a nice size crib blanket.

Q: Is this the same navy as the stitch n win navy from michael's?

Check dye lot #... even in a dye lot, there can be some variation. It's been my experience that so far, even when using same dye lot from different stores, it's been consistent.

Q: What do I get to make a chunky, arm knitted chunky or starter blanket?

This yarn works great with large crochet hooks (9mm or larger) but it wouldn’t work well for arm knitting.

Q: Would just one of these balls be big enough for a blanket?

Depends on the size of the blanket. I made a throw blanket about 4 feet wide by about 5 feet long and it took 3 large balls.
