The heating section of this product in size X-XL is 4 1/2" high by 7" wide. I get the X-XL because the width will cover more of my lower back and help with the pain. I hope this answer helps. Oh, also, the X-XL goes around larger people. If you're not a "larger people", just wrap it around yourself like I do. :)

The item description is listed as xl/xxl but the box displayed is l/xl. Is there a xl/xxl size?

No, Thermacare does not make a XL-XXL size for the back pain relief pads/"belts." (I verified this via the Thermacare website.) I reported this to Amazon (false advertisement) & to have it removed from the seller's store. Nothing has changed. However, the L-XL 10ct item is legit, a good deal @$29.99, & works well. (Retail price is $6 for a box of 2 locally. )
