This item appears quite as it does in the photo. It's both elegant and quite sturdy ... not likely to tip over if you place some heavy piece of clothing on it. The pictured instructions were fairly easy to interpret with a little care and pre-study. No parts were missing and assembly required all of about twenty minutes. The cord item is simply pulled through the little orifice in the rear compartment and plugged in so that you can plug a charging cord into one of its outlets if you wish. That seems handy but I'm not certain I'll ever make much use of it. The compartments are fairly spacious and makes plenty of room available for everything from wallet to spare change and jewelry and sunglasses, etc., etc. That was my main reason for getting the valet. It does hang a bit low so that clothing tends to brush the floor but it's still a convenient size for me as I store it in my closet so that I can simply slide open the door and have my wearables for the day at the ready.

This was a great buy for us. My husband has been piling his clothes on the dresser for as long as I can remember which is why I finally purchased a valet. It seemed a little fru-fru to him at first, but he's been using it, and now I think he's fixed! He's even using it for his jewelry, so the dresser is totally clear!The wood is nice and smooth, and the color is rich. Mine didn't have any blemishes, scratches, or cracks. All the parts needed for assembly were included.The pictures included on the project page give a good representation of the item. I just added a couple of shots with a tape measure for perspective.It was very simple to put together. I did it by myself at about 1am on Xmas morning to do the surprise under the tree thing. I was able to get it put together in about 20 minutes without disturbing the sleeping hubby.The only "eh" moment I had is that the pants hanger bar seems a bit wobbly, and if I had a light rubber mallet I might tap it in a little harder.Two other possible "eh" moments that I am not bothered by but might be a concern for others:1. The tie pegs are a little low for his ties. The tie hangs long enough puddle on the bottom of the stand. Solution would be just to wrap the tie around a bit. In our case, he doesn't wear ties that often, so it's not a concern. I did add a pic of this for example.2. The product description is inconsistent. In one place it says "3 prong surge protector" and in another place it says "built-in 2 prong power extension cord" I received a 2 prong extension cord. I would not say it is "built in." There is a hole so you can feed the cord through the top compartment. So far he has not used the cord for anything. It isn't even plugged in. The compartment is too small to hold the extension cord outlet, + the phone cord, and the phone. That doesn't really matter to him because the valet sits next to our dresser, and he charges his phone at his nightstand, so no loss, but others might not like that.None of these "eh" thoughts make us like the valet less, so I still gave it full stars.

I give 4 out of 5 because this valet is decent. It came with instructions that were fairly useful and it went together without any problems. After reading many reviews, and seeing complaints about holes not lining up I was a little worried, but I had no such problems with this valet.It arrived undamaged and the finish of the wood parts was acceptable. I did not give 5 out of 5 because the wood finish was not perfect. It had 2 small blemishes most likely from when the wood was milled. The finish over these areas was good, just not the milling/cutting of the wood.I like what I received, but I acknowledge in order to get something that's perfect, your going to have to spend much more money, like $400 or more.It looks good, it's sturdy, and it's well priced.

Easy to put together. Looks nice

I was unsure, especially of items requiring assembly. Not only was I surprised that it was easy to assemble but it was sturdy . It is very useful to keep all the going out things in one place. Nice sections for keys, money, gloves, coat etc. etc.

I bought this valet for my husband as a gift, and I was happily surprised with the quality of it when it arrived. You never know if you're going to get what you see online, but this piece is even more gorgeous than it appears online. No marks or scratches on any of the pieces - they were in beautiful shape and looked like nice, high-quality furniture that you'd get at a higher-end store. The assembly was a breeze, and I was able to do so without any help from my husband. The instructions actually made sense and the pieces actually fit together without me having to pull, tug, twist, bend, etc. anything to get it into place. Great construction, beautiful design, easy assembly, great quality for your money.

I researched so many "valets" and chose this one thinking I was settling. It's easy to assemble, is very sturdy, attractive, and has lots of compartments to store accessories. Even though the photo showed it with a guy's wardrobe, it really works well for women. It encourages me to put something together the night before work so I don't even have to think about it in the morning rush. If you can't have a lady's maid like on Downton Abbey, this is the next best thing.

Bought this for hubby Christmas. Easy to put together but do poke the plastic film of the holes as other posters say. I had this little puppy together within 1/2 hour. It's been sturdy and he loved it. Highly recommend. DO beware to get the drawer face on correctly - that is the only thing where I feel the directions were ambiguous and totally not helpful....you really have to visualize and think about it - I did put it on wrong side out but you can't even tell.
