David Busch's Nikon D5100 Guide to Digital SLR Photography Paperback – 18 July 2011

I gave this to my girlfriend this Christmas to go with her Nikon D5100 she had received at the same time. She's told me that it goes really indepth about each and every feature the Nikon D5100 has to offer and as to where it comes most in useful, etc. However, even though it's really detailed, it doesn't talk in too much jargon and is written in a manner that makes novices feel comfortable and excited about learning about this camera. She also said that although it's a great guide for novices, it's also very useful for more experienced photographers, as it hosts a variety of tips and know-hows that would otherwise be hard to pull off or miss out on.For the money spent and the lifetime limit on it, I would say that it's a magnificent buy!

Fantastic book for Nikon Owners. Superb detail and layout wih a really in depth user guide. Far better than the user manual. There are also some really great tips on getting the best photos. The lens section is especially useful, I was really confused on which lens would work on this camera and also which lens I would need to start off my collection, this book answers it all. Ideal beginers book for just taking family shots, or a really great book for the Amature who needs a little more technical knowledge. If you have this camera I would reccomend this book. You cant go wrong

The book is excellent in it's coverage of the camera. Every detail is covered and more particularly, how things can be accessed. I did not know that the D5100 was such a complex object and was very surprised to find many things I did not know existed. The book is long and of course detailed with step by step guidance on every nuance of the camera.It starts with a detailed look at every button and switch telling you both what it's for and how it works and more importantly when to use the features.The user has to read the book and and have the camera to hand to follow the advice and instructions carefully to achieve the very best that the camera can do, which is one hell of a lot. I was certainly surprised. I thought the camera was good, but this book shows how really good it is.I can recommend the book to all users as a must for all users of this excellent camera.

I found this book very useful as its more informative than the nikon manual it goes into more detail of the entire operations you can perform with this camera and shows what can be achieved in pictures,Im very pleased with my purchase.

It is always by my side as a work or reference. I find it invaluable and in conjunction with the compact field guide which I also bought and keep in my camera bag, (always with me when I am out)m, it is great. If you own a 5100 (or even a 5200 now)_, this is the book for you

this is a fantastic book and I would highly recommend it for anyone new to digital cameras. David Busch writes this books for particular dslr's. I bought this when I bought a new Nikon d5100. Cant praise this book enough.

I've a degree in building surveying and have also done a media btec in my college days which is we're I learned about cameras etc so I got the d5100 and looked for a guide and came across this! Sadly too me it doesn't grab my interest one little bit, it's teams of text on plain white background thoughout and doesn't seem to get to the point at all! It's so BORING! If you have to get a book from the author do yourself a favour and buy the pocket version. I ended up buying a guide to photography, it's got a black front and is amazing.
