Starting from explaining emotions of a baby to an adult, Laila has done justice to the relationship between Mattie and her Lizbeth that she Had set to portray. Makes you clinch at the double standards often society Andy understand what slavery entailed.

Laila Ibrahim has created an engaging novel, in the foreshadow of slavery and despair. This was my first ever book based on slavery and I was shocked at the medival practices followed in America.
