Good vent, but needed a tweak to stop the flapping noise
Decent quality vent, fits well and does the job. Looks neat once installed and allows good airflow.Only issue was the flap – it tends to bang about in the wind, which got a bit annoying, especially at night. I added some small foam pads either side of the flap to soften the impact, and that’s sorted it right out.Overall, a good bit of kit, just needed a little DIY touch to make it perfect.

Good vent for 6 inch extractor
Vent fitted easily for me. No problems at all. Cowl comes in two parts which snap together with little lugs cast into the mouldings. For those with thin walls, just be aware that the circular draft flap will require sufficient clearance so it doesn't foul on the extractor fan motor when operating (30mm should be fine)

Very pleased
Getting excited over a cowl - yes, I love it. My cooker hood exits on a side of the house subject to strong winds and I had endless trouble with back draft, not to mention that the wind blew the old cowling off the wall. This design is solid and the cowl deflects the wind. So no more back draft and no more being blown off the wall.

Not perfect
The cowl comes off quite easily and will probably blow off in high winds, the non return flap is also awkward to fit, it doesn't clip in it just rests in grooves so sometimes falls out when you install the cowl. The flap is also very light so it flaps/rattles when it is windy, which is very annoying. It could do with a counter weight, I am going to check how much weight I can add before it is to heavy for the fan to push by adding bluetack until I know then, weigh it and superglue a washer or something of similar weight to help remedy or at least reduce this problem.

Great vent
This vent works really well. It is a little more flimsy than I expected but so easy to install is on an outside wall and doing a brilliant job. Not sure how long it will last but for the price very happy.

Not easy to install
Item as described on amazon and price is reasonable. Best suited to flat outdoor walls as mine was a harled(bumpy) surface which caused issues. For bumpy walls take extra care fitting and tightening to wall as the inner square pops out from the outer square and the flap falls out as well if over tightened. You then have to fit it back together until it all clicks back into place, so when tightening keep an eye on the inner/ outer parts to and DO NOT over tighten. Just tighten enough for it to “feel” secure is enough, and avoid the plastic bending or warping. After install I applied a touch of glue in each corner of inner groove to prevent the inner popping out inadvertently. Just my preference though. Bought 3 and after trials with 1st one I knew what to expect so other 2 fitted fine. Look good on wall and will stop birds getting in opposed th the flappy style cheaper version you can buy. My old ones were this style and there were no flaps left on any of them hence this decision to try the different style.

Much quieter than conventional grille flaps
This replaced the grille type of cowling which makes a horrendous rattling noise. The gravity flap still moves when the wind gets up but no where near as bad as a grille flap cowl.
