The people that put this book together did a excellent job.
The book has All great photos in high resolution. I was disappointed with viewing the 3d photos- the main reason I bought this book. But the written Stories, structure, timeline and 2D photos are excellentAbout haft of the photos the 3d do not have the 3d effect. Of the ones that do have 3d the depth perception is not that pronounced. I am 80 year and a former Apollo engineer so my eyes are not that good and I have implant lenses when I had my cataract's removed. That may be the reason. The hardest ones to see are some the photos on the moon with a distant small astronaut on it. Aerial views of large craters are the best. You need to have good close vision to see these photos. If you great vision that can see all the photos I would not miss buying this book for the world. The book is not complicated to read and is a simple understand. book starts with sputnik and quickly walks through the cold war and space race with corresponding 2d and 3d photos. Then it focus on all the Apollo moon missions. It is enough information for a casual idea of the moon missions. .Since I am an Apollo Electrical Engineer I am more critical of books concerning the Apollo moon missions. But I am happy I bought this book cause it is excellent Stand alone primer with people that are not familiar with the moon and don't want in depth technical knowledge of the moon space program. For being an epic moment in history that will last for centuries- It misses the excitement of the Apollo program but no book can ever do that. The people that put this book together did a excellent job. I would buy this book even thou I am not satisfied viewing some of the 3d photos.

What a great book, love the 3D view
I have been an amateur astronomy for many years. I was in the 6th grade when Alan Sheppard first went into space and was in college when Apollo 17 finished that last lunar landing. This book bought back so many memories, it was like a time machine, but even better because it gives the whole picture of space race. I remember a few of the Cosmonauts but not many so it was a good history lesson. To be truthful, I really bought the book for the 3D images. I have been involved with stereo photography, on and off, for many years. Recently I have been getting interested in 3D again and the thought crossed my mind, “did the Astronauts ever take any 3D photos during their time on the moon?” I figured it would be so cool to see the surface of the moon the way the Astronauts did. I searched the internet, and this book came up. I just had to buy it and I’m very glad I did. The comprehensive array of 2D and 3D images really brings the topic to life and makes it so much more interesting. I have read the book once and will read it again and share it with family. The 3D aspect can be difficult for people not use to it. One reviewer mentioned the use of a divider so each eye can only see one image of the stereo pair. That is an excellent suggestion. Try and find the distance you need to have the viewer come into focus and make your card that tall. Also try searching the internet for binocular magnifiers or magnifying glasses that you wear and don’t have to hold over the photo but the card may still be useful. These are also handy for other close up jobs for hobbies and such so you find other uses for them.

Excellent History of the Space Programs -- Easy Reading. Great 3-D Photos.
If this book were a movie, it would be Academy Award caliber. It is a well written and easy to read history of the American and Russian Space Programs from their beginnings to the present day with the ISS. Particular focus is on the American Mercury-Gemini-Apollo Programs that culminated with Armstrong's first step on the moon. Good explanation of the purposes of each space flight was given and a knowledgeable explanation of the problems of each flight / events of the program was well delineated. The Russian program was also followed concomitantly but with less emphasis than that of the American program. Many good photos are included with the added plus of being able to see many of them in 3-D (a quality set of 3-D glasses are included with the book). This is an excellent book for anyone wanting to understand the history of the space programs without an overburdened volume of reading and detail.

The highest quality work is expected when Queen Lead Guitarist & Astrophysicist Brian May Co-Authors
Brian May has a motto, if it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing! He has lived his whole life to that standard, from the guitar he and his Dad made when he was 17, that he still plays in concert to this date, to the London Stereograph Company that he kept alive because of his passion for Stereographic Photography. Everything that he touches oozes with quality! This 3d Moon Mission book is no exception! There are uncountable 3d picture pairs to go with many full page photos. To view the 3d pictures, a viewing device that is named "The Owl" is included with the book. Those who have not seen 3d photography before will be astounded by how the pictures pop, and see the difference 3D viewing makes!

This was a gift for my brother
I can't really offer an opinion on the book, as it was a gift for my brother. We're in the midst of moving a family member so I'm not sure he's even had a chance to read it. Being huge fan of Brian May and Queen, and also rather moon-obsessed, he seemed very excited to get it, though.
