Soux Chief Sioux Chief 653-B NLC 3/4 Inch Water Hammer Arrester

This is what I needed. I initially tried one meant for a washing machine on my outside faucet timer. It did not work. I upgraded to this and no noise at all. As others have said, you will need an adapter because the arrestor is pipe threaded.

Hammering has STOPPED on Washer On & OffI’ve always had a loud bang when the Washer is running. As you can see from the picture, my house is older so the connections are in the basement and somewhat rudimentary.Smaller Hammer Arresters did not stop the hammering on my washer so I tried these larger ones. Works exactly as described. I installed these using a combination of fittings on the back of our washing machine and it completely eliminated the water hammering from our Kenmore washer. The water lines don't even so much as move anymore.

I had a the banging of the pipes every time my irrigation system would turn on or off. I had serveral plumbers come by with no resolution. So you Plumbers, take heed and have these in your arsenal for knock repair. It works if you place it near the offending device. In my case I easily installed it on the irrigation valve myself and the banging went away. I did have to purchase a PVC cutting tool from my local box store along with a piece of PVC and sealant. But once done, I resolved a problem I had since I purchased the house 4 years ago. Only problem, I have to replace annually it appears due to hard water in desert. But it easy to install now that I have it set up and it’s not expensive..

I've used size AA mini-arrestors for years. Recently the effectiveness and longevity of most arrestor brands seems to have decreased. I decided to try these much larger "B" size arrestors with amazing results. Of course, one can't lose with Sioux Chief either.

A client of mine started getting BAD water hammer after I installed new sprinkler valves. It was so bad it would wake them up at 4:00 AM when the sprinklers turned on/off. I installed this on the pressurized pipe just before the valve manifold and it worked like a charm. The valves open and close silently now, and my client is happy.

I had the master bath torn out, so decided to install one on the hot and cold water lines. We have some of those expandable houses, and sometime they cause a pulsating effect that rattles the plumbing. These seam to reduce the hammer effect.

My irrigation sprinklers were banging the plumbing I was concerned it would damage my plumbing cause a leak. I added this right after my backflow valve on the pipe going to my irrigation system.
