Whisper quiet and large media baskets
I purchased the 300 model and placed it on a heavily planted and stocked 29 gallon aquarium. This tank had 2 Aquaclear HOB filters but I was still not getting the clear water I wanted and some of my water parameters were a little high. I did not loose any fish but was concerned as you can imagine. Years ago I had a saltwater tank setup which had a Fluval canister along with a HOB mud filter and that was an awesome setup. Had it for years, well getting back into the hobby I wanted a nice freshwater planted tank. As I said, I wanted better water quality so took off one of the HOB's and added this. I read through the instructions and watched some Youtube videos and the setup went rather easy and did not take to long. I did change things up a little. I placed the included bio-balls in the bottom of the canister since the bottom basket sits up a good couple inches, Someone had recommended this on a video. I then added the included bio-rings and bought some more to fill the bottom basket, like I said these have large baskets, I then put the included coarse sponge in the bottom of the top tray and put two 5.5 ounce Chemi-pure green filter bags and two carbon bags from my Aquaclear 50 HOB filters which had been in the tank for about a week and a half each. This was done to help seed the nitrifying bacteria in the canister. I then added water to the canister before putting in the baskets then topped it off after they were in place to help purge any air in the system and then put the top on. I then cut my hoses and put them on the quick disconnects and I used the included HOB polishing filter. I am using the included cartridge right now but will probably place some filter floss or sponges in the bottom instead of having to purchase the replacement cartridges. When everything was in place and hooked up I opened the valves on the quick connects and poured water in the HOB polishing unit as per instructions then plugged in the power. At first it made a lot of noise while it was purging air and getting up to speed, but I tilted the canister back and forth and side to side a few times, again as seen on a video and once the air was purged, I could not tell the canister was running unless I saw the water coming out of the HOB polishing filter. Even with my stand door open I could hear my air pump running the two air-stones, which I have on the lowest air volume, (quietest setting). If you follow the directions and purge all the air this thing is absolutely whisper quiet. It only took about 2 minutes or so for it to completely quiet down and it has been absolutely silent ever since. With the one Aquaclear HOB on the back and this running, my tank is doing great and the water cleared up overnight. I was a little skeptical since I was out of the hobby for so long and really liked my fluval canister filter I had years ago. One thing with that, when I would do maintenance even with the quick disconnect I always had to lay some towels down to catch water that would spill out. On the Aqueon canister, when you shut the flow valves on the disconnects and then unscrew them I have not gotten a drop of water coming out. Yes you have to unscrew the locking nut on each one instead of lifting a lever and the whole thing coming off but it only takes a few seconds by hand turning them but like I said no drips. The only thing that seemed a little odd to me was that the 300 model that I bought only has two media baskets, very large like I said, but the 200 and 400 model have three baskets each. Now maybe the 200 has smaller diameter baskets, I don't know, but after seeing the massive size of the two baskets on this model I ended up purchasing more media then what was included to fill them up. I am a happy customer and really have no complaints. I don't know what the longevity will be, we will have to see, but so far so good. I do regular maintenance on my equipment and make sure I put things back together correctly and clean things when needed. I did have to put a piece of wood under the U-return on back of the tank to raise it since the intake tube is very long even when you have it completely collapsed. It can extend very long for a deep tank. I put a sponge pre-filter on the intake and it sits about two inches off the substrate now. But this is rated for up to a 75 gallon tank but as you know the flow rate is usually not what is listed on the box once media is placed in. It is not overpowering for the small fish I have. 14 Neon Tetras, 4 albino cory cats, 2 otocinclus cats, and a male Betta (as my centerpiece). He swims through the outflow with no problem. I do like the fact that they give you the spray bar, or directional outlet and the HOB polishing unit so you can choose which one you want to use. You also get the suction cup holder clips for the spray bar or tubes as needed. I am very happy with this purchase and will update in the future if anything changes or goes wrong. But with the quality of build I don't anticipate any problems. Hope this was helpful for anyone thinking of purchasing.9/8/20 Update. Unit is still going strong and am very happy with it. After cleaning it I did rearrange my media, I put ceramic rings under the bottom basket to fill the void there, where I had the included bio-balls before, now I have both in there. Then I put the included coarse sponge and topped that with a medium then fine filter pad, In the top tray I put Biohome media, which I purchased after seeing video's by the Pond Guru on You Tube. when I put the unit back together I did get a little rattle or bumping sound, which sounded like the bioballs were moving around and hitting the sides or bottom basket. Both times I took the unit apart I had this sound but after a day it stopped and has been whisper quiet just like before. Next time I break it down for cleaning I am removing the bio-balls and will add a little more ceramic rings to fill the void under the basket. Other then that I am very happy and am looking at purchasing the bigger unit, (400 model) for a 75 gallon tank I am setting up soon. No leaks or issues with anything on the unit. Very, very happy!

Buenisimo

Easy setup
I've had this filter running for nearly 5 weeks now on my 55 gal planted tank, and so far it's working well in regards to ease of use and no leaks. I will say I was intimidated by canister filters for a very long time, but setup was very easy. Priming was no hassle at all. Cleaning is a little easier than the HOB filter I had before, but only because it's easier to completely drain without as much mess. I opted to use the HOB polishing unit, since there was less space in the canister for floss than I'd expected. The polishing filter it comes with was pretty sad, so I ordered a massive sheet of floss for $10 and just cut it to size and will last forever. I am still cleaning every 2 weeks at the moment, and slightly regretting not purchasing a canister with the built in UV light. I do have a separate UV filter that I've run in conjuction for less than a week now and my tank is now crystal clear. I am hopeful this will allow me to space cleanings to every 3-4 weeks, which was the point of spending so much money on this canister.

We will never buy any Aqueon products Again
We bought aqueon water filter for a 75 gallon fish tank. We have had issues with it since we revived it. The water clarity from the time we set up the fish tank. We have had ongoing issues with this water filter day one. We now have algae really bad. The product is not flowing water. We paid 169.99 for this product. It is for a 50-100 gallons. We bout $300 of fish and some has died! Amazon is refunding our $. But only after they receive the water filter. Now we must buy a new one before we can send back junk! Please do not by this Aqueon Quit Flow W Water Filter. We have been doing fish tanks for over 25 years. We haven't ever had problems

Read directions cut tubs, to length, tighten connections
Minds at eas. Really! I'm writing this because I was in need of a canister filter but couldn't see myself paying a lot of money for just a name. Filters filter water that's their jobs. So if you need a great canister this is it. I received it and read the directions carefully for the set up that I planned to use,(water polishing option) so it would go well. This unit works great, Super quiet great suction and so far reliable. I have a 55 gal tank with a aqueon HOB now with this unit givingme a combined water filter system thats moving 700ghr. Again nice canister for the price. You can find a lot of canister on the market for higher prices that can fool you to believe you've brought the best but again Filters filter water.
