Works as expected, with expected sturdiness. Very convenient.
My grandmother used to have a very similar device to chop nuts when I was a kid. I've been considering buying one of these... And I'm glad I did. Frozen peacon halves were my first test... A little difficult to turn the handle. The next test was refrigerated pecan halves... Worked great. I will update this review when I chop whole Brazil nuts for my next ice cream.

Great nut chopper
This is a wonderful nut chopper. I does a fantastic job of grinding walnuts. I haven’t tried using other nuts yet. It is durable and very easy to clean. I like the design, but I wish that the design included a bottom that was stationary. It does tend to move around if you don’t hold it down while grinding. I do recommend this item.

Works fine but a bit flimsy
What I Like: The square design of this nut grinder is much better than its round counter part as all six grinding blades are full length. This makes for a more efficient and more consistent grind. It is easy to use on softer nuts like walnuts and pecans. The removeable bottom makes it much easier to clean and remove finished product. The grind, although inconsistant, is better than results in a food processor and far less effort than chopping with a knife. What I don't like: It is not a sturdy when grinding almonds as there is alot of flex in the handle, it takes a good amount of effort, you really need to secure the center of the crank with your thumb while turning a half turn at a time with your fingers otherwise it feels on the verge of breaking apart. The handle is also too short and too flimsy to get proper leverage on hard nuts like almond.Although it does a good job on softer nuts with almonds the entire mechanism flexes and unless I support it as mentioned above it feels like it will break apart. I also saw no difference between course and fine grind.Summary: At $23 this is as good and as sturdy as one can expect. I would pay more for a sturdier version that made it easier to grind almonds but I saw no such option. For the money I'm OK with it and it does give an acceptable grind for nuts used in sundaes, baklava, and to put over cereal. I am not confident in its longevity as improper technique with almonds may break it.

The nut chopper is built well.
I needed to chop nuts for breakfast cereal. This chopper works, but only for very small quantities. It does walnuts and pecans easily, but almonds are harder and you need to chop fewer nuts at a time. If you don't abuse this little chopper, it's sturdy and works fine.I think it's good for chopping a few nuts for a salad, or similar application. It wasn't practical for the 4-6 cups of chopped nuts I needed. I kept it in my kitchen appliances collection because you never know when a thing will come in handy.

The 50+ year old one still works better
I grew up with a nut chopper like this. It was great. After my mother passed, one of my siblings asked to keep it. I had been chopping nuts on a cutting board with a large knife, which is always messy. So for my holiday baking, I looked for a nut chopper similar to what I grew up with. This looked like the one! It is cute, comes in different colors, is easy to load and unload, and is easy to clean. But when it comes to chopping nuts, I am not impressed. Almonds in particular really challenge it. I can't just "turn the crank". I have to hold the crank handle close to the container and forcefully push it around. The almonds come out nicely chopped, but if you have any hand issues (arthritis, weak hands, etc.), this is going to be tough for you to use. For softer nuts, like walnuts, it works a little better, but I use lots of almonds. Disappointed.

SAFETY HAZARD!!!
i have had this mill almost 3 months - my initial post is below this update.luckily, i did not swallow the piece of plastic that came from this under engineered (weak, built for failure) nut mill.hopefully, you can see in the photo where the clear plastic that holds the axle, broke. THIS PRODUCT POSES SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES.i did not get injured and/or swallow the SHARP piece of plastic - i initially thought it was a nut shell fragment. i have learned, through experience, when consuming any product with nuts in it, there could be shell fragments that may crack your teeth, so go carefully.PREVIOUS POST from when i initially used this product follows:i pan dry roast walnuts, pecans, and almonds to put on my oatmeal and figured i had hand-chopped long enough. regardless, of grinding in the coarse OR fine chop directions this thing destroys walnuts and pecans (too fine), and, has a real difficult time with whole almonds in the coarse direction, don't even think about the fi e direction that is not happening. DIFFICULT to clean. chopped nuts being dispensed from the bottom is awkward.

Nice size ! Does a great job
Really nice ! Holds more than my old one and I like that the bottom just releases the chopped nuts . Does both coarse and fine very quickly .Easy to clean
