only broke a little
a five star review for a toy that only broke a little? Yes. My son is super rough with this toy - it gets pulled on, wrapped around things, dragged all over the house, and thrown around. One of the small bars that helps straighten the measuring tape to roll it up fell off, and the plastic peg to hold it in broke. I honestly didn't expect this toy to last as well as it has based on our use of it.Things that could improve: The wind up leaver is kind of small for adult hands - my 3.5 y.o. seems just fine with it. The numbers on the tape also don't continuously count inches, but starts over and counts 1-12 for each foot.Overall, I've been super happy with the durability of this measuring tape!

Christmas gift to my grandson
I saw child’s’ tape measure on some DIY’ersGift list for children so I thought I’d buy one as a stocking stuffer. I figured I couldn’t lose for the price point. His design business Mom says he enjoys measuring at home and when he happens to go to a job site with her.She said it was a big hit. Who knew?!🤷🏻♀️

COOL AND FUNCTIONAL FUN
GREAT TAPE MEASURER - ACTUALLY WORKS, AND IS VERY STURDAY (WITH SOFT CLOTH TAPE). NOTE: THE METAL WINDER SPINS WHERE A LITTLE THUMB COULD BE HOLDING. IT. WOULD BE BETTER FOR LITTLE ONES TO HAVE A 'HANDLE', BUT WE ARE KEEPING IT FOR OUR 3 YEAR OLD WHO LOVEES TO MEASURE THINGS. (HE USED THE TOY VERSION SO MUCH IT BROKE, SO EAGER TO GIVE HIM THIS UPGRADE) :-)

Not what I expected
This is not what I expected. The black portion that is used to pull the tape out covers the first 3" so don't plan on measuring anything under 4". Then when this says it measures in inches I assumed that it would count 1" through 396" but no it starts over every 12" so if you want to know how many inches it is you have to pull out a calculator to figure it out.The only thing I like about this is the casing, but that doesn't do much help when trying to measure.

Present for a 5 year-old
I purchased this tape measure for our niece who is 5 years old and learning to count. She wanted to use my tape measure which has sharp metal sides and a strong spring. This was a safe alternative for her. She immediately started measuring everything in the house. It was a big hit and a great hands on learning tool. I don't know how to rate this toy, since all my information is from our niece's mother.Signed, very pleased Aunt

Easily Breakable, Would Not Recommend
This toy broke within the first 10 minutes of use. The part that looks like metal is actual plastic so if you have a very competent kid who is able to put a little muscle into winding up the tape measure, be aware it easily breaks off. I wish I bought something more sturdy.

Only goes up to 12 then starts over
I always read reviews, idk why I didn’t do it this time. But uhhh yeah this wasn’t what I was expecting. I just wanted a normal retractable tape measure that wasn’t a noisy, sharp, steel blade. But yeah this is definitely made for learning and not real life applications lol. It only goes up to 12 inches and then it starts over again not going past 12. Honestly even if you do want this for teaching wouldn’t you want to teach your kids that that’s not how a normal tape measure works? Unless you want it to practice your 12 times tables... idk this is a weird product lol. I returned it

Great product!
Great product! The only thing I dont like is it doesn't do the total inches, it goes by feet. For example, 12 inches it says one foot, then starts over 12 inches again. I prefer 24 inches etc. Overall great product, my son loves it!
