HICKORY AX HANDLE ARRIVED WRAPPED IN PROTECTIVE BUBBLE WRAP , PAPER INSULATION WITH A 2 TO 3 INCH CRACK UNDER THE BUBBLE WRAP , FOR 40 BUCKS I EXPECTED A SOLID PIECE OF HICORY .

Could be dangerous. I plan to return it.
From what little I know about this business, the handle is supposed to protrude at least a half inch beyond the head of the pick/mattock, as use will make it tighten. This one is not only sunken, but it looks like a manufacturing defect as it is clearly not even symmetrical.

Avoid. Bad grain direction. Won't last. Overpriced.
